It is a transition car and can be called a \"mesh grill 750\". The engine has been totally rebuilt with Borgo 10,4 to 1 pistons, new water pump, oil pump (blue printed), new timing chain. The head was rebuilt in Paul Spruell's shop with his cams, valves, springs, etc. His shop also ported the head. The car has not been on a dynamometer but should be making 175 to 180 HP. The rods and pistons were all matched to extremely close to equal weights. The rod cap bolts are American Racing products bolts. I cannot find the receipt for the distributor but It has no points as the spark is triggered by a magnet. As for sump ground clearance it is four inches measured at the lowest place on the sump. GTV Alfas run the bat wing sump which is stock for the 2L motors. There is no room for that sump on the Giulietta so this car runs an Alfetta sump (see photo 115). I am pretty sure my car had a tach cable coming off the front of the engine. At any rate is doesn't matter because this Sprint's transmission is composed of the original 1300cc bellhousing and tail section with the center section from the \"74\" spider. Therefore the tach cable comes off of the 1300 transmission to the tach and all that the tach needs is a new magnetic rotor. I contacted Pal Alto gauge repair and was told a two month turn around which wouldn't work for me. I really don't know if the oil temp gauge works or not. There is a sender in the rear of the oil pan and the gauge never moved. Same with water temp. The water gauge below the dash left side works fine. The engine runs cool with the re-cored radiator and there is an electric pusher fan mounted in front of the radiator that is turned on with a switch mounted in front of the steering wheel on the right of the column. I don't trust the thermostat switches. I flip the switch if stopped at a long red light. The gas gauge works and the oil pressure gauge works as it should. Now the oil pressure gauge below the tach is as you probably know is connected to actual oil in the engine. The 2L engine doesn't have the same OP take off port. On the left middle side of the 2L engine is a OP port that supplies the OP idiot light on the 2L car. This port now connects to the OP gauge below the tach. I doubt motor oil actually makes it to the gauge through that tiny hole but instead, compresses air in the tube. \n I am sorry, but the original engine is enjoying itself in a Giulietta spider somewhere. I just didn't have the space to store it and I thought I would keep this car forever. The original motor # is 1315 06570. The title that came with the car when I purchased it had the motor # as the VIN so a few years ago I had DMV inspect the car and issue a new title.\n The rotors and calipers on the car have few miles on them. When I bought the \"74\" spider the caliper pistons were resistant to moving and worked well with use. I put anti-squeal compound on what I thought were squealing pad backs but it didn't stop it. This car's rust areas above the rear wheel arches on the outside bodywork were repaired with welded steel and a skim coat of polyester filler. Sorry, but I so not have photos of the process except for the doors in bare metal. Yes, the car does seem to have a forward rake to it in the photos. I haven't noticed that when looking at the actual car. The 2L engine may be a little heavier than the 1.3L and I will bet with a driver and passenger it sets level. No, the springs were never repainted. They are aftermarket springs from Centerline and come with yellow powder coat. The shocks are Koni red. No resto parts on the car have over 3200 miles on them. The new engine has 967 miles on it. The transmission has approx. 23K miles. That tube from the gas tank sender is a breather tube to allow air to enter the tank as gas leaves the tank through steel and rubber fuel lines under the car. If a gas cap with a breather hole is used, gas sloshes out of that hole as the car accelerates. The rust repair under the battery tray was repaired with welded steel with no filler. My disk conversion came off a rusted 65 or so factory disk Sprint, and the rear cylinders and the master cylinder were both half the area of the 4 wheel drum car. I knew someone who used the 4 wheel drum rear cylinders on a disk brake conversion and they spun the car backwards into something in a panic brake situation - too much rear brake bias. And one less Giulietta on the planet.\r\n\r\nWhen I built mine around 1980 the giulietta veloce oil pans were still available so that is what I used.\r\n\r\n@craterface The 1750 & 2000 bell housings had a bulge at the top right for the clutch slave cylinder. The red Sprint had the motor installed low for that to clear.
