I have receipts for $1375 for transmission work that my Dad had done back in 2002 which included '2nd gear synchros, shift fork, 2nd gear slider, flywheel resurfacing, and a new clutch'. The standard 3 speed gear box works fine. We pulled the body, and I noted the transmission had a plate on it showing it was last serviced in Normandy during the war. It was pretty amazing to be standing there wiping old oil off of it and reading it. We also cut off some body parts for repair, and stamped rails on the bottom of the body revealed they had hardwood boards captive inside them. No idea why, but I have a few pieces of it in a ziplog bag hanging on my garage wall next to the steering wheel from the same vehicle. My Dad purchased this Jeep in the early 2000's and I inherited the Jeep in 2007 when he passed. When Dad purchased the Jeep it was represented as being 97% completely restored with the vehicle being dis-assembled, sand-blasted, and re-painted in the original Army Drab Green. The body and frame of the Jeep are solid with no rust or prior damage that I can detect. After purchasing the Jeep my Dad did some additional detailing, adding the Military decals, dash plates, cd-radio (that has been removed and opening covered with a steel plate, see pictures) with speakers, missing grab bars, to try and make it more complete. With respect to originality, it has been converted from a 6 volt to 12 volt system. The carburetor was replaced with a Solex back in 2014 (but I have the original carburetor that is included).
