These cars had issues with broken gears and many owners disconnected the speedometer which is easily done. It isn't as relevant as you might think. Condition is more important and speaks volumes. Far more fun on the street to drive and I personally would take a 981GTS or GT4 over a 718 who cares if one is slightly faster the 718's lack soul and will be receiving the N/A engine again soon. If the high bid had been $120-130K I would not have been surprised. This 964 Turbo being white/black with few options in pictures it does not necessarily jump out as a Turbo, but of course it is. Kind of a stealth 964 Turbo if there is such a thing.\nI\u2019m not sure it\u2019s as much the air cooled market cooling off as it is buyers being more selective. In many auctions we keep seeing the super nice top 10 percent examples receiving much higher bids than the driver and driver plus examples. Even some project cars seem to be getting more interest than the condition 2.5 to 3.5 examples. \nBottom line is this is a good time to buy air cooled 911s which are in the condition 2.5 to 3.5 range. Prices are reasonable for these examples generally. \nFederal Reserve just lowered interest rates for the first time since 2008. Americans just like me love spending money. If the Europeans get back into buying 356s and air cooled 911s in the US as they did a few years ago, 356 and air cooled 911 prices could jump up again.\nMy advice is still buy a car if you love it and want it, and don\u2019t depend on appreciation.
