Sure.\r\n\r\nBut if you look at period photos or films of the day, aftermarket wheels were pretty rare on cars overall. Yes, even performance cars. Anecdotally, I bagged groceries in the late 1970s, and we had many customers who still owned nice muscle/sporty cars from the late 1960s and early 1970s. (Back then, we used to routinely take the bagged purchases out to the customers' cars and load them into the trunk.) It was California after all, where cars didn't rust. Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers, Novas, Road Runners, Cougars, Javelins, and so on. If they had anything beyond factory wheel covers, it was factory rally wheels.\r\n\r\nTo these wheels specifically, I remember when my oldest cousin had bought a '68 or '69 GTO Judge around 1971. The previous owner had put Torq Thrusts on it, but by the early '70s those had apparently really gone out of style, and these slot mags were the new thing. When we went over to their house for whatever reason (they lived down in Orange County, so it was only for holidays, birthdays, etc.), shortly after he'd bought the car, I went rather nuts. Carousel Red, a Hurst shifter with the t-handle, and those American Racing mags. \r\n\r\nBut I remember, quite specifically, that he couldn't wait to show me what he had stacked up in his bedroom. Four white boxes containing his new slot wheels that he had yet to put on the car. And over at Ford, the Mustang was on two-year restyle cycles up through 1970. \r\n\r\nSticking with the same body for three years was a harbinger of things to come. Look how long the '70 Camaro and Firebird bodies stuck around, with only front and rear revisions. I was over joyed when I pulled the back seat and found the original broadcast sheet undisturbed under the passenger side. With all the care and caution of a senior CSI agent I removed it to examine... and was crushed when I realized it didn\u2019t match the car!!! It was from a car 6 digits away which was spec\u2019d with the same deluxe silver interior. It was also a roadrunner (not that that matters.) As previous posters mentioned my hours of internet research all said that this is common in Mopars. Since then, the seller has added a very careful 77K miles. OK, there\u2019s the vase.\r\n\r\nRead it another way, and BaT is saying that since the seller acquired the car in 1971, he\u2019s been able to actually drive the car 77,000 of the 90,000 indicated miles. So for 13,000 miles, he what? Pushed it? And there\u2019s the old woman. Now, I know the meaning is the former \u2014 the car\u2019s been carefully maintained since the start, and it shows. \r\n\r\nBut it sure hits my eye funny, that sentence. \r\n\r\nThat said, sometimes stuff hits the ear funny, too. When I was a kid, I used to watch Henry Kissinger talk about global affairs. Mesmerizing. I\u2019d swear he always said \u201cpolly-tickle\u201d instead of \u201cpolitical.\u201d It was the accent, I know. But then I\u2019d say \u201cpolly-tickle\u201d and realized that if I said it fast enough, or often enough, yep, it sounded like \u201cpolitical\u201d even though I was saying \u201cpolly-tickle.\u201d How\u2019d that work?\r\n\r\nSo, there you go.\r\n\r\nBut back to all that\u2019s relevant: A lovely car and comments that very nicely round out its history and the owner\u2019s stewardship. The first owner also live in a high rise with inside parking. As for a story about driver training I didn't take driver training as I grew up in a northern Manitoba farming area where they didn't have driver training. We went to the next larger town where there was a police station and the cop asked if I had any driving experience. I said I drove the truck on the farm so that was good enough. I signed my mother signed and got my driver licence. I finally did take driver training in 2012 for my motor cycle endorsement. Had a bike in the early seventies when we didn't need special endorsement but I missed having it added when the rules changed so had to take rider training when I decided to buy another bike. My first bike was a 1966 BSA 650.
