The mismatch you see, I believe, is due to the leather color changing (fading?) over time, while the plastic has stayed more true. The leather has never been re-dyed. I've heard others have had good luck with a re-spray/re-dye of Lama, returning it to it's original shade. Maybe others can comment on this. It does help to keep the leather conditioned. Related, there is a stain visible on the passenger door card. It was there when I got the car. I resprayed both door cards early on (because of the stain), and it hid the stain well. The rear side markers were added as part of federalization when the car was imported. They are a common BMW part used for this, but the fender was drilled to install. The main hole is about the size of a quarter. Then there are two small holes for the screws. So removal would require welding and paint work. As for the original wheels, I do not have those. There was a recall on the original wheels due to cracking, and they were a metric size with a single tire (Michelin TRX) that fit. The M635CSi Registry issues shown in the gallery have some good information on the recall from back in the day (as well as the valve spring update).\r\n\r\nAs the car sits now, the federalization mods are the side impact reinforcement bars inside the doors, the rear side markers, and the headlight aim control system had it\u2019s controls and lines removed. The headlights still have the control mechanism in place, but without the lines and controls they are useless. I understand the lines and controls have long been NLA. \r\n\r\nThe OBC is also in English, while all other controls are in German. Not sure if this was changed as part of federalization or was the preference of the previous owner. \r\n\r\nCouple other points to throw in while I\u2019m at it. I do still have the original shocks, front and rear. They were replaced in 2016 with current similar Bilsteins. I understand they can be sent to Bilstein and re-valved if one wanted to keep the car absolutely original.\r\n\r\nI also have the original Bosch AC compressor and bracket. I believe it's using engine vacuum for the adjustment.\r\n\r\nMercedes-Benz had the headlamp adjustment on their Euro (should be Rest of the World..) versions and theirs ran on engine vacuum. \r\n\r\nI had a Lancia once that had a mechanical headlight adjustment driven by movement in the rear suspension. Quite a neat feature.\r\n\r\nIf you look closely at the main adjustment unit, I think I see two vacuum attachment tubes.\r\n\r\nIf it is vacuum powered, the installation is easy; just put a splitter at a vacuum source and run a line to the control unit.
