He was/is a dyed-in-the-wool total Mopar maniac. At that time, he had a black 1959 Plymouth Sport Fury with a white top and red/gray interior, much like this car but it had more side trim and the \"spare tire\" on the trunk lid. Since this was around 1968-69, he had taken the wide whites and wheel covers off of it and replaced them with the Mopar version of the Magnum 500 wheels and white-letter tires. I noticed it was always SO clean all the time. I could tell by that he was a car guy. \r\n\r\nEven though that car was totally out of style at that time, I still liked and appreciated it. But I was about the only one as most of the car guys at school made fun of it. \r\n\r\nOne day, I happened to be out in the parking lot when he was getting ready to leave. I didn't have him as a teacher so he didn't know me. But I struck up a conversation with him with the best line you can say to a car guy. \"That's a really nice car you got there.\"\r\n\r\nOh that lit him up immediately and he offered to show it to me. And so he did. He spent about 10 minutes discussing the car. I do remember the swivel seats and how shiny the paint was which he said was original. Then he opened the hood and it looked great. A true car guy's car for sure. It was spotlessly clean and I immediately noticed it had two 4-barrel carburetors. I do not remember if he said what they were or if it was even a Mopar set-up or what. He said it was a wide-block 318 and I know they didn't offer 2x4 carbs in '59. \r\n\r\nAnyway, fast forward about ten years and I happen to be driving in my town one day and I looked and on a carport at a house was that black '59 Sport Fury with the Magnum 500 wheels! So I knew where he lived then and as the years went on, he bought SO many Mopars. He had a '57 Chrysler 300 as well as a '61 300. He had a Road Runner, a Charger and I remember when they made the farewell Chrysler 300 in 1979, he bought one of those new. In the last few years, he has bought a new Charger. As I said , he is totally Mopar.\r\n\r\nBut the point is that he still has that '59 Sport Fury from my high school days! So he's had it for at least 50 years now.
