It completely trashed the 4WS system and I was freaking out. Loved the 4WS, this was back in 1991 so the car was relatively new with 15K miles when we bought it. Put a Kamanari body kit on it and it looked great, same color combo as this car. \n\nI would have to say that any one with any skill level can drive this car easily. Sorry to disagree @MRF77. The car was actually my wife's daily driver and she had no issues. It is cool to feel the back in come around driving slow in parking lots, very manageable and fun. The safety benefit was at higher speeds, I think above 30 mph(?) when the rear tires and front tires turn in the same direction making the car feel like it was on rails with no body lean. The reason I believe they quit making it was that they were an expensive option and expensive to repair. Ours started going out and you would hear and feel a slight banging coming from the center console by the hand break I believe. At the time I was told it would cost about $2,000 to fix, so it was time to sell it, maybe there are better fixes today or I was given miss information on cost, so please don't quote me on price, it was a long time ago. \n\nThis really is one of the best handling cars from this era, I had 85 300zx Turbo and a 86.5 Supra at the time although both cares were faster I would say the Prelude out handled them hands down. If you look at pictures 87-89 you\u2019ll see the steering box at the rear of the car (which is something of an engineering marvel in and of itself) that, based on steering wheel input, turns the rear wheels either in the same or in the opposite direction of the front wheels. The system is quite reliable and not prone to failure. 4th generation Preludes in the US were offered with 4WS in 1992 and 1993, but the system was computer controlled. Nice car, it was bullet proof for all the years he had it. This was a cool time capsule buy!\r\n\r\nI bought my kid a new Accord coupe almost 30 years later and it smelled just like I remember the new Prelude smelling! Base Accord 4 cyl is like 180 HP and not fast/quick but rather adequate especially with the manual trans.
