It still has a couple hundred thousand miles left in it. Only the 91 SPG had the 130 mph speedo. Most of these cars got the gearbox replaced, an old customer of mine bought one of the Saab press cars, we found out later it was the one in Car&drivel and Rodenttrack. He bought it from a Saab dealer with 9500 miles on it and it was a year old, but since he was the first retail owner it had a new car warranty. Saab put 3 gearboxes in it before he got it, and he killed one in the first month.\r\nAfter that he learned how to drive it and put almost 300k on it before he sold (about 2003 ish) it to a teenager for his first car! It's hard to believe that these are 30 year old cars.\r\n\r\nRight now in my shop I am working on a '90 SPG in this color, it got tires, shocks, steering rack, fuel gauge and new radio and a bunch of little things. He had/has a collection of stunning C900\u2019s including one of the three early Pearl White SPG prototypes. Don\u2019t known him personally but am good friends with one of the other three US owners of the Pearl White cars.\nAs mentioned earlier, a number of rare Saab accessories on the car. Front window air shields, lovers and what looks to be a factory Saab Whale-tail Spoiler.\nThe NOS dash is a huge plus and retaining the year correct fascia is very nice as well.\nWhile the leaks are concerning, and I applaud the owner being upfront about all the items that are possibly leaking, all are fixable with an engine out service at a Saab repair shop. Seals are cheap, o-rings are cheap as well as gaskets. The usual leaking PS line is still available, made by URO, though the hose diameter sometimes is off. Reservoirs are NLA but plentiful used. \nThe labor will be a couple thousand. Would do a thorough engine clean and wipe down before diving in though. Might only be a couple things leaking but has made a mess all over.\nOddly, the description says this car came with 185HP from the factory. Nope. Only C900\u2019s that did were the CE\u2019s. The red box only does not get it to 185. Fortunately the SPG\u2019s in 90 and 91 came with the 010 distributor who was the second item of the 185 trifecta that increased the horsepower. Besides the APC controller and the distributor a different FPR was used to get to that number. Looking at the photos, the distributor heat shield is discolored which is from either a valve gasket or distributor leak. Easy to check if the correct distributor is retained as just read off the Bosch part number. \nAC looks to have had a correct Saab conversion done as evidenced by the black hose and blue cap off the compressor. \nThis really does look like a great example of a rarer color 91\u2019. Showing no rust you are well ahead of the game. Parts are still available....you just have to be in the game for a while to know who has what and then be ready to pony up a bit to get them if you want NOS items. Used parts are available all day long from Saabnet sellers or on EBay. \nI have been very fortunate to be in the Saab community for a long tome....since 93 when I bought my first new C900. Some of the nicest enthusiasts you will ever meet. Am now down to two C900\u2019s, a 93\u2019 CE #64 and a 90\u2019 SPG that has just 40K documented original miles on it. I had a couple of SPGs (black and malachite green) along with many other 3 and 4 door 900 Turbos that were great fun.\n\nSome dealer service managers felt the manual transaxles had weak pinion shaft bearings. The pinion bearing failures I saw usually had signs of abuse.\n\nI saw one 900 Turbo at a dealership with pinion bearing failure that exploded ring gear out of the side of the case. The car was still \"under warranty\", though the service manager wanted me to look at it. I opened the glove box to look at the service record book and found a bunch of drag strip time slips instead.\n\nThis car looks really nice. I'd bet it's never been hit in the back because the left tail light is slightly crooked. I think all 900 three doors came this way.\n\nI drove the heck out of these for several years. Driving a 900 turbo always put a grin on my face as I leaned into the boost and squirted through traffic. Also a simple mod to allow greater throw and more engagement of the gears. Over the years of the classic 900 there have been many issues with trans longevity that was easily avoided by using premium lubricants and changing it regularly. I\u2019ve put 100k on my 1988 SPG and it\u2019s always taken a little finessing to get reverse to stop spinning, especially cold starts. I usually work the shifter into first, second and even third, sometimes twice to stop it, but it always does. The transmission will actually last a very long time if you drive an old 900 properly. If you\u2019re going for 0-60 acceleration and boosting the crap out if it in 2nd gear all the time, you\u2019ll have some issues. If you use the turbo where it\u2019s strongest, like say highway speeds, you\u2019ll have a lot of fun and the box will last much longer. While they did get rid of the tube with the traditional dipstick, if you use a 19mm (I think that is the size) you can remove the plug. It is in the same spot the dipstick went in and there is a 2 inch level indicator on the cover. So it is not as easy to check but def still a way to tell the level of fluid on the 1991. So that is the correct trans number and not one of the earlier ones that can be problematic. That car was rusty and I ended up selling it. I should have never sold the black one!\n\nThese offer such a unique and fun driving experience. They are equal parts classic and modern. My cars always reminded me of a well worn leather glove when you get in them.\n\nThis appears to be rust free in all the right places. The car will probably require some ongoing maintenance and attention, but looks like it has great bones. These are really pretty simple cars to work on and parts are still plentiful if you look in the right places. I believe there were 540 Tally red SPG\u2019s imported in \u201890 and \u201891, which makes survivors pretty rare to come by. \n\nThis looks like an example worth owning. While the 5 speed is not as robust as the 4 speed it replaced, it is still very capable --- simply do not abuse and more importantly replace the fluid with a top shelf synthetic(Amsoil, Mobil1...). Most of the experts say the issue with the 5 speed, in comparison to the 4 speed, is due to the increased size --- courtesy of the extra gears which made it difficult for the synchronizer rings to bring the counter gear up to the same speed as the output shaft.\n\n@1redaero you are correct, the electrically adjusted front seats were introduced into 1991 c900 model convertibles. The green 91 on here that you can tell did not have it. (one picture you can see the round seat back adjuster) But then there is one black one that does have it. The car is running on a 93 900 turbo computer. These were non egr so it doesn't throw any fuel mixture codes or check engine lights. Additonally, the car does not overheat in any conditions, and the fixed and converted AC does an excellent job during the summer.
