Normal in 81, and it's been replaced with a speedo indicator from an earlier car ( 170 mph). Later cars had 160 then they went to 180mph. Most dealers would do this upon purchase when new. Taking the ODO apart is a DYI on early cars. Does all this make the mileage suspect? In my observation this car looks like a 20k + - mileage car. Too many bits in the engine bay and elsewhere do not show the wear of a high mileage car. I do not see any major restoration work done.
