Presuming they weren't lathered up too thick in oil-based dressing they should still have some good pliability for at least the next summer or two. The last few years the car has remained garaged in Florida. As is evident by the mileage, I do not use it very often. The resell and re-titling of the car came about as a result of my retirement. Initially when I bought the car it was titled in the name of my company. When I retired in 2019 one of the assets that did not go along in the transaction was this car (along with a few others). Even though the car was sitting in Florida during the transaction it was more expedient for me to re-register it in Massachusetts. \r\nSorry, but I am not really certain what or where the front air dam is. I will find out, take a picture and submit it. Yes, the tool for the removal of the top and the engine power key Are in the car. \r\nMechanically, the car has only been touched by one auto repair for the past three years. if interested I will be happy to provide their name and number and you can have a conversation with them regarding the car. It's been a lot of fun. \r\nMost of the car is standard C4, so those parts are not a problem. But anything connected to the LT5 is getting harder and more expensive to find.\r\nPerformance wise, the stock C4 ZR-1 is a low 13 second car, with a top end over 180mph. At speeds over 100 the shocks firm up and is a great high speed tourer. Great mileage too, if you slow down to legal speeds, it can actually get 30mpg in top gear.\r\n Early on, I bought nearly every \"bolt on\" performance part I could find without molesting the bulletproof stock engine: HD aluminum radiator, Lightweight flywheel, headers, 3\" exhaust, 4.10 gears, drag radials, hurst short throw shifter, bumper mounted air intake, etc.\r\nAll of which cuts more than a full second off the 1/4 mi. time (12.06 @117mph.).\r\n\r\nIn Florida, Corvettes are everywhere, but even at massive events I rarely see one of these. The engine is still one of the baddest, and best looking, small blocks ever, (no Tupperware!). And they're still cheap. Regardless, my comment was to say based on what I see, these are just under 7 right now and would certainly get you home and may function yet for a bit, but not much longer than the next year or so. Yes - old tires are an often overlooked safety issue in the collector car world!\r\n\r\n@Young1 There were three ways to order the targa tops with these cars. Stock was just the painted version. Another option was replacing the painted top, a $615 option - as was done here. The third was a \"Dual Top\" option that was $915 and included a painted top and a tinted clear top (usually the blue one, not sure if you could get bronze with the Dual option.) This car looks like it had the white top replaced with the bronze from the factory, so it wouldn't include (nor is it \"missing\") the white top.\r\n\r\n@Graybeard_ZR1 is very knowledgeable about these, and absolutely right - these cars only get better as the speed climbs. All it takes is a jumper and a Helm Factory Service Manual, and it's done. \r\n\r\nThe one think I wanted to get when I had my '92 Vette was a GM diagnostic computer called a Tech II. It would read all subsystems and even test some of them.\r\n\r\nA quick primer:\r\n\r\nThe C4, starting in 1990, was updated with a CCM - Chassis Control Module.\r\n\r\nThe CCM acts as a data manager, taking data from the engine controller and passing it to the IP, the stereo (speed/volume compensation) and the ABS computer - EBCM (Electronic Brake Computer Module).\r\n\r\nThe Tech II can read the CCM, the ECM and the EVCM... and even the AC system!\r\n\r\nAlso, the biggest single point of failure for the ECM are the comm chips - UARTS - universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter. There are two on the ECM and two on the CCM. They are redundant backups, so if one chip dies, the other takes over, automagically. There is one wire that carries the data, and it gets split at the harnesses. The problem? No one, that I am aware of, is actually remanufacturing the CCM or the ECM at this time. By placing a wire or even a paper clip to to each opening (jumping) and with your key in the \"on\" position, but not running, your ABS light will start to flash, thus giving the code # by the number of flashes. But even this method does not flash all of the codes.\n\nMy suspicions of why the three places you brought the ZR-1 to have this issue checked out and came away empty, is that none of them (including the Chevy dealership) had the Tech ll scanner for the older models. Had ran into the same problem with a my '94 Chevy Dually on a issue that no one could figure out, including the Chevy dealer...and they didn't have a Tech ll scanner for the older vehicles. Even someone that had an older MT2500 Snap On scanner with GM cartridges would be able to diagnose it, but most mechanics don't have them anymore. And with them, one probably would be able to read the code and clear the ABS code out, because in all likelihood, would not come back. If it was something serious, you would have noticed something was wrong, even under a \"medium\" firm use of the brakes.\n\nThis ABS light should not be a deterrent to any serious bidder...it's rather innocuous. You can find them on eBay in PDF format for $15, or in book form for around $100.\r\n\r\nThese are complex cars for there era, but they are not that hard to work on. Just follow the book!!! \r\n\r\nAlso, there is a set of pin jumpers you can get that will display the various codes of the ECM/CCM/EBCM on the speedometer, making it easier to decode. The jumper kit is no longer available. I can't find it for 1990-1993 C4's. If I was buying an early C4, I would get a good diagnostic reader. Well worth it. \r\n\r\nThe pin jumper kit - AKA ALDL Diagnostic Grounding Plugs - were created by this great guy named Gordon Killebrew. He was THE C4 whisperer. However, he is now older and retired.
