But, at this age, it could be a distant and faded issue regarding smell. My experience: This is a fantastic option package - with the magic diff-lock button! And at only 97K. Timing belt and water pump done. \r\n\r\nI can tell you from experience that this car needs oil changes and that's it for the next 100k miles. I had a '96 limited, bought it with 167k miles on it. Multiple owners before me, no maintenance history. I did nothing but recommended maintenance, used it as a daily driver, trail rig, road trip machine, etc... for 10 years. Drove the whole family all over the Rocky Mountain west, went as far as Denver - Ely Minnesota with 2 kids in car seats, a golden retriever and way too much weight on a hitch rack (camping gear, etc... the dog took up the 'way back'). I even added a 3rd row (little passenger seats out of California). After 10 years and another 100K+ miles (had 280k when I traded it in), I still had only done factory maintenance. I never once wondered if it would be reliable. When the kids were little, they loved \"safari mode\" - all the windows down, including the rear hatch, and sunroof open.\r\n\r\nThis may be the best all-around SUV ever built - the only issues with this generation: The front seats will get brittle, go above and beyond with your leather maintenance. I think they just get too much sun. My rear seats at 280k miles still looked and felt new, the front not so much. And this is early in the ABS evolution. In sub-zero (f) temps the ABS is not always your friend. If you don't routinely drive in sub-zero temps, then no issues. If you do, you just need to be aware.\r\n\r\nSorry for the long winded post - just love these 3rd gens, and never see one this nice.
