We tried to save the paint and failed; 40 year old paint from Sindelfingen just doesn't stand up; we elected a glass out respray in Astral Silver using the best base/clear money can buy; the new finish is spectacular. After that, well it's a slippery slope. The interior from the factory was blue velour. Never been a fan of velour and after 40 years it was worn at the edges and somewhat faded. GAHH supplied a factory original complete kit in custom leather including door panels and new cushions and the interior now matches the paint. While the interior was out, I decided the wood was also a bit faded and sent the wood off for refinishing. Now that the cosmetics are about done, it is getting all new HPS (thank you Tom Hansen at MBCC). When you're this deep in, you may as well go all the way; no half stepping here.
