You should not smell like gasoline on this car.\r\n\r\nThe engine used to overheat on really hot days, and the addition of the cooling fans should help this one quite a bit.\r\n\r\nThese cars are not super fast in a straight line, and it is actually a good thing. Driving the car through the mountains you don't have to concern yourself with the throttle technique. Just mash it coming through the corner and the car will be fine. I had my car for 6 years and logged a dozen or so trips to the mountains, usually for a week each time. The car was universally loved by others, and really was trouble free.\r\n\r\nI fixed my gas gauge by getting a new sending unit and installing it from Summit racing for about $25. I also had to have the gas tank welded where the brazing had cracked. The cost was about $400 (they had to notch the gas tank seam around the frame or something when building the car). I prefer the 15\" minotaur minilite wheels I had for the looks, but otherwise this is pretty close to perfect. There have been lexan cut down screens used for many of these cars, but the factory screen is nice. I also drive with my brother to pick one up in St. Paul, MN and drive it back to Scottsdale because he liked my car so much. There is a mile of leg room, and of course unlimited height. The seats are kind of narrow, but I am just shy of the clinical standard for morbidly obese and I fit okay. The seats don't have much bolster or hip side support so you can squeeze between the trans tunnel and the side of the car. I am 5'-8\" and about 215 and I could barely reach the pedals with the pedals adjusted as far towards me as they would go. I think you will fit. Also, my bad on the cooling fans helping the engine, but fresh air by the feet would be welcomed in this car. \r\n\r\nAs far as the video goes, you can definitely thrash these cars around. Just figure a first or second gen Miata with about 600-800 pounds taken out. Plenty of power for having fun, and super durable. I beat the snot out of my car for 6 years and was able to put quite a bit of distance between myself and most exotic cars int he mountains. I usually used my car in the mountains or the winter in Florida, but would have used it more if I had these type of fans. I also kind of wish I had changed my exhaust to be like what you have. I\u00b4m not sure of the story of Ginetta G20 in the US. Were the cars supplied as CKD rolling chassis for Mazda Miata engine/box? There\u00b4s nothing in the write-up which I see about the source of the diff, in the UK that would have been Ford Sierra (from memory). I am sure that G20s were only imported into US in very small numbers because the Ginetta company in this period was basically a one man band (Martin Pfaff) of great energy but limited resources.\r\n\r\nThe G20 was based on the G27 chassis and in the UK was equipped with Ford Zetec engine and Sierra gearbox. The original intention was to supply fully-built cars (the one I had was factory built) but the car was also later available to self-build as a kit with second hand engine/box etc. As with the previous G27, the race series became very popular and spread to several countries in the EU. Effectively, the need to build race cars meant that the G20 road build cars were few and early in production.\r\n\r\nThis car looks very well built, and having experienced the aeroscreen on my car (never really thought about decapitation in a car before....) I prefer the full screen on this one. The ride height looks high, but makes sense as every Ginetta I have had was compromised on the road by bottoming out, and the G20 was no exception. As someone else posts , Panasport/Minilite wheels look better, but I believe the ones fitted to this car are the factory race wheel.\r\n\r\nIt is a question of taste, but for me the 2 colour scheme here does the G20 no favours. The black around the bottom of the car hides the subtle curves of the shape and contributes to the high look of the stance. Nor do I recall seeing this shape of screen on a G20 before. G33 is wider, so this may be cut down from that mould, but not the same.\n\nG20s in the UK almost universally had the aeroscreen (which as a user, I never liked) although I think a few were fitted with the G27 screen, which is more attractive than the one fitted to this car. Probably in markets other than UK, there is a requirement for windscreen wipers and washers (which I consider sensible....).\n\nThe chat about the G33 and G12 windscreens on the Pistonheads link is all wrong. The G33 windscreen was made from the mould of the G16 racing car.
