Fehr does great work. This is a really nice car - looking for missing or not right stuff: it is missing the headlight bezels; the aluminum trim around rear of cockpit appears incorrect; no under-dash trim (hardly ever there); interior trim should be gray on armrest, seats, center console, panel cards (except doors) and dash -- but this never happens now. gas cap is from later elan or spittie; straps to hold top bows are missing; steering wheel is for a later year but arguably better. I has the right trim on the front bumper, the right airbox, the right pattern on the gator skin mats, everything is nice looking, I like the rotoflex over CVs and thank God for skinny tires on these. Nice original style wheel openings. Nice window pulls. Interior looks nice in black. Lovely car, minor niggles. @brian M, she does have window lifts -- the mechanism is spring loaded! They aren't always very willing though. LOL. As the owner of a '67 Elan coupe, and former owner of 3 Elan roadsters, I watch Lotus sales closely on the internet - hopeful they get the respect due the marque. This Elan has a lot going for it; new galvanized frame, Weber carburetors, a beautiful Walnut dash, a new wiring harness (not easy to replace), new rotoflex couplings and a brand new convertible top. This car will give the new owner years of fun driving pleasure. Lotus Cars is the only manufacturer in history to WIN the Indianapolis 500 and the Formula One World Championship in the same year - 1965 - Jimmy Clark, the Flying Scotsman. A lot of great history goes with every Lotus Elan. Best of luck to the Seller and to the next owner of this beautiful little Elan. Bid with confidence. The early dashboards were teak, and then later on they were mostly elm, though that varied, I believe. The steering wheel on this car appears to be a TTR \"26R replica\" piece, not original to S1, S2, or S3, but still it is a very nice wheel. (I do have one of each of them...) I am a little confused by the 1965 champion badges on a 1965 car, as first they became champions, then they made badges, then they built the cars with those badges. based on the unit number and the badges I would guess this is a 1966 car. I suspect they allowed more time curing in the molds in the early cars. Interestingly, all the early cars I have or have checked seem to have a significant side curvature of the \"centerline\", which is not noticeable in the later bodies.
