I supplied all Honda parts to the shop. Shame on them for the sloppy paper work. The previous oil change did show the 15400-PCX-004 filter and if you look at the trunk photo there is the correct filter for the next service included. I did check the filter installed and it is the correct part number. Although I do get a laugh out of those who like to go on about the 9K RPM redline when the redline is actually 8,800 RPM's (9K RPM is where the rev-limiter / fuel cutoff kicks in). In my case, I've ridden motorcycles most of my life, so the higher rev limit just isn't as much of a novelty to me. \r\n\r\nInstead, I prefer the tuning approach that Honda took with the larger 2.2 liter F22C engine. While there isn't that much torque on tap to speak of when it comes to S2000's in general, the F22C has more torque as well as more power across the board (despite Honda's published figures), particularly down lower in the RPM range before VTEC is engaged. While you can still tell when VTEC kicks in, the transition isn't so abrupt, that it's going to ruin your day if you happen to be cornering at that point in time. That's another important thing, some of biggest changes that Honda made to these cars in 2004 were to the chassis in order to address the bump steer issues that existed in earlier AP1 cars. Then there are the styling differences that were made beginning with the 2004 cars that happen to prefer over the earlier cars.\r\n\r\nAs to why I prefer the original AP2v1 cars over the later AP2v2 cars (2006, 20007) and AP2v3 cars (2008, 2009), it's really pretty simple: I personally have a fairly strong disdain for electronic throttle controls, otherwise known as drive-by-wire (DBW). In my case this has nothing to do with any supposed throttle lag be it real or perceived associated with DBW. It's also not limited to just the S2000 (I've passed on certain motorcycles for this very reason as well). \r\n\r\nRather, this is the one interface between man and machine where I do not want yet another computer interpreting my own inputs along with any potential for error that comes along with the deal, no matter now minuscule this possibility might be. Others will note that electronic throttle control is what allowed Honda to provide Vehicle Stability Control in the 2006+ S2000's and that's a good point. There is benefit there for those who desire this feature. Others who prefer to modify these cars, will point out that electronic throttle control provides easy access to ECU tuning and they have a point. But I'm not into modifying my S2000 so this point is lost on me. But the fact that I appreciate originality in these cars brings up one more reason for my attraction to the AP2v1 cars. They featured the most appealing wheel design of any S2000 in my book. (Although I do consider the 16\" JDM BBS forged wheels associated with the early AP1 cars to be flat-out gorgeous.)\r\n\r\nWhen it comes to S2000's, a lot of people like to talk about the rising values of these cars. I can tell you that this had no influence at all on my own purchasing decision. I was willing to pay more to get what I wanted (up to a point anyway) specifically because my plan has always been to hang on to the car once I found it. What my car might sell for later on is of little concern to me. Generally speaking, my observation has been that all other variables being equal, when it comes to S2000's so far, when the time comes to sell the later model the more money it tends to bring in return. This is only my observation, no one should take it as gospel and I'm not trying to upset anyone by noting this. At some point down the road I imagine that this will change. But in what way, I couldn't say.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the first year model cars will become the most desirable, or maybe the 20008 and 2009 AP2v3 cars that represent the end of the S2000 line will go down as the king of the hill. Should you have any concerns about how well the AP2v1 cars might do as an investment, well I'd probably be the last person to ask. Perhaps the AP2v1 cars will be sought out more fervently in the future being the \"Last Fully Analog\" S2000 as some like to call them. Personally, I doubt it. As far as I'm concerned, the AP2v1 cars are the right fit for me. But that certainly doesn't make them so for everyone else. \r\n\r\nIn a comment to follow this one, I'll post up a couple of links to some reviews from 2004 when the AP2v1 cars were released as they do a pretty good job of going into greater detail and deeper thought as to why the AP2v1 cars are so desirable.
