The pump itself is generally bulletproof and manages to work for an alarmingly long time, even when hanging on by 2 bolts after the other 5-6(I can't remember exactly how many) back out from vibration over the years, and the thing is hanging there working still lol ;) I've had at least 4 M60s over the last 20 years and each one has had to have this work done! \n\nMy understanding is that if a complete detachment happens, the oil pressure sensor is pretty good about making you aware that you need to shut down immediately..\n\nThis car has very few miles on her. I'd venture to bet if the following procedure hasn't been done( @Duececoupe any comments?) , it still has only a couple bolts that have started to loosen or drop. \n\nCheck these by simply removing the lower oil pan and have a gasket ready to replace, take all the loose bolts out of the bottom of the pan, take them all out and clean and dry the holes/threads and use a dab of threadlocker blue and re-tighten them all to spec. \n\nIt's a weird phenomenon, but every M60 in history seems to have had this happen to at least a couple of their bolts and many many cars still haven't had this procedure done.
