The 7 inch EXU headlamp buckets did not come with the Lucas lamps shown, and that also detracts from the simple charm. Then we get to the fancy \"MG Company\" scuff plates on rockers under doors. Only some very early TC's had anything like that, and it should have a plain aluminum plate. EXU's did not come with driving or fog lights to spoil the cars simple origins. Otherwise looks good. Early cars would have come with an alloy valve cover albeit of a different design. The Lucas headlamp glass are reproductions of 50's vintage Lucas performance items so in my opinion are forgivable. The scuff plates with script are also as early cars had and are almost always found on later cars simply because they look nice. The Lucas Flamethrower driving lamps are a correct dealer accessory that were quite common to fill the empty mounts left behind from the deleted driving lamp and horn of the EXU. All other TCs had the horn and lamp fitted as stock on the badge bar. You have to expect some customizing on any TC, and if you look back to the 50's and 60's, you will see tremendous amounts of added bling that would be mostly shunned today. This TC is about as close to stock as you will find outside of show cars. Especially for an EXU, which are almost always missing some of the EXU-specific bits.\n\nThe only truly notable incorrect part is the engine block, which is early TD. It could well be the TC that in `51 or `52 spawned my life-long passion for sports cars, for much spent on enginee builds, speeding tickets, race entries, shocks, brakes, tires... In Santa Rosa around then a fellow who I think worked on the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat with my dad visited us up on Holland Heights east of town in his TC, maybe this one when a darker color. It was rural up there then, the hills lightly laced with empty twisty two-lanes. At age six or seven I got a spirited ride in this fellow's TC. He used the whole road, engine singing in high octaves . He shifted up crisply , double-clutched down. I can still see the pavement blurring past the low left side door, apexes coming & going. After that ride I took my little red wagon and coasted down Holland and Vista View Drives learning lines, dead-stick drifting turns and tumbling into the roadside scrub. I was made of rubber then and so got up and carried on, hoping I could stop or roll off before Bennet Valey Road. It was a long trudge back up to do it again, and again and again for months, but worth it - as have been the Morgan, Alfa, MGs and such in my garages later in life , and many friends with dirty-fingernails .
