They\u2019re fast, comfortable, the engine is understressed and reliable and the belt jobs aren\u2019t hateful. More fiddly is the valve adjustment but in my experience, 9 out of 10 cars tend to check in spec, YMMV of course. \r\n\r\nThis looks to be a lovely example and I\u2019ll second that you are always better off with a Ferrari that has been exercised and enjoyed than one that has been a garage piece. Granted, a lot of my customers always say to me \u201coh I\u2019m gonna drive the hell out of it\u201d....and then I see it the next year with maybe 300 more miles \ud83d\ude44\ud83d\udd2b\r\n\r\nI had a \u201899 456M/GTA for a handful of years and drove it on many multi hour [highway] road trips and it was always reliable, the A/C could actually keep the cockpit fairly comfortable on a 95 degree day and the monster fuel capacity (27-28 gal if memory serves) meant even that honkin\u2019 veeeeeee12 up front *almost* could do Cincinnati to Cleveland and back on one tank, depending on how disciplined you were about keeping your loafer out of it \ud83d\ude01\r\n\r\nNice car, the new owner will most certainly enjoy it. With a little work, you wouldn't be giving up too much performance to that car as well. To me, one of the benefits of this car is that it is an OBD 1 car with Motronic 2.7 engine management which is far easier to deal with. Of course you have chips instead of internal programming, but that's minor. One should experience less warning light events in OBD 1 cars of this era compared to their later versions. Other than that, this is great entry level late model V-12 Ferrari to get into. Just drive it. Well, after you delete the resonators and upgrade the exhaust - cats and muffler. Add performance brake pads and I can't think of anything else I'd want to do. Maybe bore the throttle bodies and swap out the fuel injectors for 4-hole replacements. BTW this car shares a lot of components with the 348 and 355 which themselves share a lot of parts with other cars. So it's not like this is a terribly expensive car to maintain. Great color too.
