Hopefully the plastic display attached to the AC can be hidden somewhere. An operational top and windows on a convertible is half the battle, as someone else mentioned. Hopefully the new owner keeps the 14 inch wheels and sets this up with some bias ply tires that give the car a better stance and profile. The seats have been redone. The standard code 84 interior is honey beige metallic and a full set of skins runs around $5k. Seems like a great foundation for someone who wants to restore further or just fine tune and drive. My '62 was given to my parents by my great uncle, who got it from my grandmother when her husband passed away, as she couldn't drive. Uncle Joe told my dad that when I was old enough he should give the car to me since I seemed to be infatuated by it, which I was. When I was about 12 my dad was looking for tires and came home with 15 inch wheels, horrendous 1970 \"Lincoln\" hubcaps, and a lovely set of radials, since he didn't think 14 inch radials were safe. He ditched the original 14 inch wheels AND the original hubcaps in trade. I rended my garments, tore out my hair in patches, and accused him (quite accurately) of betraying the car and the family. After I graduated law school my parents handed me the Lincoln title, the key to the storage facility it was stored in, and the monthly bill. I drug that car around like an anchor for many years before I had the money to get it running. The minute it was, the first place I drove it was to the tire shop for installation of 14 inch Silvertown bias ply tires, 14 inch wheels I found on a Lincoln forum, and original hubcaps I paid dearly for. Yes, the handling was better with radials, but I leave some extra space when driving, look way ahead, and if someone driving a Cadillac CTS wants to go canyon running I just shake my head and say \"you win,\" or grab my other car which I bought here at BAT (I have replaced the red wheels with a nice set of RG5s so don't make fun of me if you look up that auction). I know it is entirely subjective, but I think wide white radials on 15s look completely and totally out of place on a slab side Lincoln. The proportions of the white wall are wrong and look nothing like a true bias ply white wall. In truth, after '61 all Lincolns had a narrow stripe not a wide white anyway. I keep hearing Coker or someone is working on a radial that has the same proportion and sidewall height/profile as a bias ply tire, but they don't have them yet for the Lincolns. When they do I will throw them on but until then I'll stick with the originals. All that said, I am somewhat in awe of you knowing that the Silvertowns wear out after 20,000 miles. You really drove your Lincoln! I have not put half that many miles on in decades, although I hope to up the mileage when some mechanical work is completed this year. So, I guess I understand why people swap out to 15s and radials, and everyone can do whatever they want to their own car, but the '61 to '63 cars, with their more delicate styling, curved greenhouse, and purity look best and proper only when they have the stance and profile that comes with 14's, those original hubcaps, and the big rounded bias ply sidewall profile (IMO). My advice is, if you would be tempted to convert again, please buy a Cadillac next time! That's in jest and I appreciate your feedback, which I am sure the new owner of this machine may take into consideration when taking this car to the next level.
