My first GT had 15K miles on it before I got this one so that car must have really been worn out ;) But I didn\u2019t initially buy the car with future value in mind. I bought it for fun and passion for driving. But you have a point that it is not a display vehicle. When I did the twin turbo set up I saved the main parts that I thought a future owner might want for the ability to revert the car back to stock. And I know people who have done that. In the beginning most owners were modding their cars. A simple pulley swap with a tune on the stock supercharger and you got 700hp. That was my first mod on my first one. A lot of guys bought whipple superchargers and had fun that way. And some of us went twin turbos. That is another great thing about the Ford GT. You could personalize it and work on it because it was at heart a Ford. A beautiful incredibly built Ford but still a Ford. The actual spinning of the supercharger itself uses a relatively large amount of horsepower. THus an engine has to actually make much more power than its published figure in order to overcome the SC parasitic loses. Turbos/twin turbos in this instance, do not have that parasitic power loss. Thus, a motor making 750 hp with turbos is actually less taxed than is a 750 hp supercharged motor. Ergo, in theory and practice, turbo motors can make greater net hp than a supercharged motor. The down side is lag (which absent a before and after dyno comparison torque and hp curve I will believe exists) and complexity. Twin turbo systems are more complicated and have far more moving parts. The upside for the turbos is the can be mounted lower thereby lowering the car's center of gravity and those superchargers are pretty heavy. Compared to turbos (which are famous for peak hp) supercharges are famous for low down grunt. The ideal set up in many ways are the V mounted turbos Mercedes and BMW, etc. use today as these simplify plumbing and reduce lag even further. All things being equal, a 750 hp properly designed twin turbo system should result in an engine that lasts longer than a 750hp supercharged engine. Then again, these cars are not driven 100k miles so that point may be moot. I own a Heffner twin turbo quite similar to this car. Indeed, I've had the pleasure of running with Skyrex at several Mojave events. These Turbo GTs are docile as a lamb in traffic, but when you squeeze the skinny pedal, you better be pointed straight. My car has been absolutely bullet proof, and the Turbo system was installed many years and many miles ago. I much prefer it to the factory supercharged system; there is less parasitic loss with the supercharger gone. This translates to easier driving in traffic, and completely daft levels of acceleration under boost. What's not to love? I have now owned 3 GTs. The first was factory equipment only. On the second car, I installed a Whipple supercharger, and the result was invigorating. The third and final car went straight from the showroom floor to Jason Heffner in Sarasota for a TT system with titanium induction plumbing. It was the best decision I ever made. My TT GT holds the distinction of being the fastest car I have ever owned (230 mph at a sanctioned event) as well as the only car in my collection that my family has forbidden me from EVER selling. Great ABS (I have had to rely on more than once), but no traction control even available (Ford expects we owners know the car).\r\n\r\nWindshield wipers removed? OK, I get that -- no reason to drive this in the rain, but I have mine, more than once, and I confess I never went over 60 mph then cuz the 13 inch wide rears become skid plates. I am on my third set of Goodyear Eagles now, and that is the perfect tire for the car.\r\n\r\nI have driven her at 160 mph on Highway One north of Santa Cruz and she feels like 45, so rock solid. The balance, the handling, the braking of the stock car is so sweet and perfect. No way I believe in altering stock on this beauty.\r\n\r\nWhy an owner wishes to change the supercharger (instant on, as you watch that vacuum dial on the dash ping to the right, and listen to that sweet rocket engine sound just back of your head, six inches behind you with that stock supercharger), for a laggijng, low growl twin turbo is beyond me! Just buy a Porsche if you want twin turbos . . . \r\n\r\nLowering the car, I don't get either -- my stock 2005 GT is perfect at handling, yet escapes speed bump, low driveway injury (my 812 Ferrari and y Diablo both have options that let you lift the front end under 25 mph, but the Ford doesn't need it). \r\n\r\nWhy the change to the seats (hey I upgrade any car I buy if needed, but the stock GT is so perfect, as is!): The GT seats (no power adjustment offered, just simple spring loaded handle for forward and back, and a rake knob for the back) stock were close to the Lemans GT -- they were ventillated! That is what the holes are for. Ford ran an air pump to cool the driver. That is why Ford duplicated its \"vent holes' for the 2005 anniversary edition car as it used other \"quirky\" features, like the instrument placements, and the door (the 2005/6 GT was the most profitable car in Ford's history). \r\n\r\nThe 40th anniversary car was designed to \"look original\" though the only ventilation from the seat in 2005 was bouncing up and down on it! \r\n\r\nThe Ford \"GT-40\" Trademark was stupidly lost by Ford's legal department that failed to file a renewal long after the Le Mans victories. That is why the 2005 is merely a GT. The GT-40 was so named cuz it was merely 40 inches high off the pavement, and NEVER flipped. The car at auction is 43 inches off the pavement, and much wider than the original at Lemans.\r\n\r\nAs for the door? Why the guillotine? Cuz it was proven at the Lemans running start that the driver could save three seconds getting into the car with the door open if he didn't have to duck his helmet to get in.
