First timer here so go easy on me. I know there are a lot of Z enthusiasts on this site that know way more about these cars than I do and are very helpful. \r\nI'll try to preemptively answer some questions.\r\nI purchased the car 12/21 on a partial trade with a 91 toyota 4x4. I have owned 2 Z's in the past (I was in my 20's) and even though it needed some work I had to have it. It brought back good memories. It did run ok at that time but a little rough and interior needed some help. I am the 3rd owner of the car that has spent its entire life in Washington.\r\nI replaced injectors and fuel rail (have original rail and fpr) and added pressure gauge.\r\nReplaced u joints in half shafts and mustache bar bushings.\r\nNew upholstered seat bottoms. Seat backs are original and still look great. I have the new seat backs that came with the kit that will go with car.\r\nInstalled new carpet. Brown color on pics of the floors is original carpet underlayment fuzz. \r\nWent through the brakes adding Toyota truck calipers and new rotors. Rears have new hardware and pads. The original drums were turned. Also, new brake hoses all around. New KYB's installed also.\r\nInstalled new heater core and removed heater control valve as it was kaput. Not sure if you can rebuild those, but I certainly could not find new one.\r\nNew Honda control valve now sits in engine compartment. Works fine but not ideal.\r\nNew plugs, wires, cap, rotor.\r\nDash is original with one crack that materialized just 2 months ago unfortunately. \r\nClock does not work.\r\nRight turn signal indicator light does not work in dash but front and back on outside do. Bad dash bulb?\r\nI have the rear louvers that are just resting on the hatch in picture that will go with car.\r\nI have original wheels, hubcaps and spare.\r\nI have the original snorkel for air cleaner.\r\nI have original calipers, rotors and dust covers.\r\nThe small holes from aluminum cladding were obviously not filled during paint job. I suppose PO wanted to reinstall them then changed his mind? They are filled with wax at the moment. That not so coveted aluminum trim will go with car. \r\nSunroof does not leak and no evidence that it ever has. It's certainly period correct. \r\nThere is a dent in driver side footwell where the tire shop erroneously placed the lift arm of the hoist. I have the receipt that shows just that.\r\nThis is a beautiful car that is extremely clean and leak free. I only drive it when it's nice out. She gets a lot of thumbs up on the road and attention in parking lots. \r\nI don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying this was bought as a ZZZap Z. It has all the identifiers. Paint color, racing mirrors, louvers. They would have cut through or removed the roof stripe if the sunroof was added before repainting. The new owner should install one of the reproduction stripe kits. I have no idea if it was or not. It does have 2 of the three options to complete the zap appearance package. Just missing the stripes. Which would have been removed when painted....... who knows. I am still trying to contact the guy who purchased it new but the phone number I found for him has been busy for 3 days now and he's 93 years old. I will keep sleuthing on that. You are right, the aluminum rocker cladding was not part of the Zzzap package. FWIW, the 411 yellow was also available in '78. I used to own a yellow '78 and it also had the aftermarket sunroof installed. While I am not a fan, I will say that if you have owned a 280z w/o AC and driven it in the summer you will know that these cars generate a lot of heat that travels from the engine bay through the transmission tunnel and I found that the sunroof would do quite a bit to draw fresh air into the cockpit. \r\n\r\n@Buck_Turgidson Regarding the heater valve, those can be rebuilt. Good that you managed to hold onto it for the next owner. One observation about the ribbed aluminum rocker panel moldings - for some reason a disproportionate number of Ca. sold Z cars were equipped with these by the selling dealers like pinstripes. So, I guess that if a guy wanted to put it all back together you could find the parts or rebuild them and get it done.
