I just got back from a scramble up the mountain this morning on my 1977; much more fun than the 89cc they advertise!\n\nHere\u2019s a little about the bike:\nThis is my custom 1972 Honda CT90 I built out two years ago. At the time, it was my third CT90 that I putting back on the road, and I was looking for a clean bike to ride around town. The previous two bikes are stock, patina bikes, mostly for trail riding. This one I wanted to look brand new, and just a bit custom. I have since put on the bike about 300 miles. Mostly it was used to run errands in town, but it has seen some trips up and down the mountain forest service roads on the outskirts of Whitefish, Montana. There are signs of wear, (on the engine paint and stands) from the use it has received since I restored it.\nThe engine passed a top end inspection; I went ahead and honed the cylinder and replaced the rings with STD rings. The original carburetor was thoroughly cleaned and rebuilt. Fuel lines were replaced, points replaced, gaskets and a few seals replaced, and it has received a complete tune up. The gas tank was removed and cleaned. The drive chain and sprockets were replaced with new parts. The tires, tubes, and rim strips were replaced. The wheels were balanced. The brakes were inspected and cleaned.\n\nThe suspension was replaced with all new shocks front and rear, giving it a sportier ride. All of the cables are also new. New handlebar grips from Vans.\nThe wiring harness and connections were cleaned. The handlebar controls are from a 1977 CT90 (the kill switch is non-operable, but could be connected if you wish). The headlight, indicator lights, and turn signals are all LED lights from Pardue Bros., who specializes in updated electronics for 6V motorcycles. The regulator/rectifier is also an upgrade from Pardue. The battery was replaced last year. The rear license plate holder/turn signals are also from a 1977, as is the luggage rack.\n\nI had the bike frame, tank, fender, and ears powder coated an orange/brown. The code is RAL 8023. The uploaded photos were color corrected to try and get the color you see as close to real-life, but that will obviously depend upon your monitor, too. Plastics were painted in \u201csand tan,\u201d and clear coated. The Trail 90 decals are not year-correct, but instead chosen for their colors. The chain guard and stands were painted in aluminum, and have earned some nicks in the paint. All the chrome on the bike is original and shows no signs of pitting.\n\nI do upholstery, so I decided to do the seats a little different than stock. The seats are covered in a brown marine vinyl with an orange thread, double stitched diamond pattern and orange piping. The buddy seat is awesome to scootch back on for taller riders like myself. The front mudflap is to match. If the buyer wants their own custom seats, we could discuss this and negotiate a price for my work.\n\nObviously, this bike is not a shining example of an original, stock Trail 90. My idea was to instead do a full restoration using Honda CT90 parts, but not to get hung up on the exact year of the parts, decals, or colors. The \u201clook\u201d of the bike would be subtly different, and period-correct. The electronics, particularly the lighting, would be modern. The upgraded suspension would give it a tighter ride.\nI hope you like it.
