They are built like tanks and the lack of an airbag never bothered me. I bought it at 20 years old with 67,000 and drove it for another 200,000 miles. I think during the time I had it I averaged 24.5 mpg. I had many thumbs up from passers-by during my ownership. It ran very well on straight recycled cooking oil but when I lost that source I moved back to petroleum Diesel. The back seat is huge and I often carried 2 bikes there. It was a sad day when it went away but my mechanics who knew those cars very well both retired so I knew I would have a difficult time with upkeep.\r\n Parts availability is very good but you are buying them for a MBZ not a VW.
