Maybe two or even three tries. The dealer replaced a starter relay and it worked great until recently. It has started doing it again. Always does start, but maybe not on first try. Have not had it looked at, but that\u2019s what it was last time. \nI have not had the AC looked at. Will blow icy cold, but sometimes doesn\u2019t. Might start off slow to get cold and then do great or might start off great and then stop blowing cold until it feels like starting again. Starts perfectly when it cranks - it won\u2019t always crank, however. IOW, sometimes when the key is twisted the starter doesn\u2019t spin. Might have to try it a second time. Or a third. I just turn the key back to off and try it again. The record is four tries for it to turn over and start. It was doing this when I bought it and the dealer replaced a starter relay which cured the problem for about two years but it\u2019s doing it again. I suspect that relay is bad again. For the record, I use Shell 93 octane fuel. \n\nThe dealer inspected all pulleys, tensioners, belts, and such when I brought it in for servicing after purchase, and all passed except the supercharger drive belt which was replaced. I don\u2019t know about the guides you asked about. Sorry!\n\nThe font struts and bushings were replaced prior to my purchase of the car. I don\u2019t know if the towers were replaced at that time. They certainly look fine. \n\nBaT photo guidelines said to not take the pictures in my driveway, so I drove around and looked for good spots. Cambridge is one of my favorite streets around here so I ended up there for some shots but, sadly, we\u2019re not neighbors. Here\u2019s how that went down: I was not the winning bidder of the auction two years ago. However, the seller contacted me directly after the close of that auction to let me know the car was still available. \nI have no sure idea of why exactly, and I\u2019m certainly not going to speculate.\nI really liked the car, so my wife and I hopped into her Jag and drove to Pennsylvania to check it out in person. \nIt drove out fine and looked amazing. Seriously, the pics and videos I took with my phone do not do this car justice. It\u2019s stunning in person. I get compliments on it ALL the time. \nI was immediately smitten, so we made a deal for $9400 and I drove it home. \nI took it in to the Jag dealer near me to have some issues fixed and get it looked over and, in total, they did about $5500 of work on it to get it \u201ctight and right\u201d for me. \nThey are real good at finding anything and everything wrong. \nI also had the windows tinted at a local shop, so I invested about six grand on top of the purchase price (and the cost of the MI-PA-MI trip) to get it how I wanted it. Somebody is going to get a smokin\u2019 deal here. \nAs noted in the listing, I\u2019ve owned the XJR for two years. I\u2019ve driven it ~3000 miles in that time with most of those put on during trips between Grand Rapids and Northern Michigan. It\u2019s a great car for road trips. \nOf course it would make it from MI to NY. That\u2019s a pretty low bar though lol. With the exception of the occasional real jalopy that somebody\u2019s nursing along, most cars you see out driving around would go coast to coast with no problem. I would absolutely drive this car anywhere. \nAs for why I\u2019m selling, I want to get a C3 Corvette next. Yes, grab the shift lever and snick it down into reverse, then firmly back into park. Works every time on our Jag. It has, in fact, passed this quirk on to its garage mate, the 2001 XK8. \r\n\r\nI think these have a fiddly design of transmission range switch, necessitated by the J gate shifter. Don\u2019t let it scare you off. Great cars. The new starter relay did fix it for about two years. Like a lot of parts anymore, I think relays just aren\u2019t what they used to be. I had to replace two of them on my boat motor, one for auxiliary reverse lights on my E250, and another that ran the driving lights.
