Carbon cleaning may be needed at some point in time, can be performed easily by appropriate technicians. \n2. DRC suspension may need attention, there are many choices to pick from the aftermarket components available from reputable manufacturers. \n\nThe B7 produces an unmatched V8 sound, more so in the S mode, with wide open throttle, going through the 6 speed! Legal/posted speed limit is decimated in no time, and goes through fuel like an F-15 Eagle lighting the afterburners. \n\nThe AWD is particularly useful in northern snow months, dressed with proper snow tires, it is an outstanding performer on snow and ice (MN experience). Since 2014, I own an identical B7RS4, now has about 41K miles. It has fulfilled the vacuum left by the departure of my beloved 1994 E500. The routine maintenance services are not extraordinarily expensive vs. my daily driver 2007 B7A4 2.0T. \n\nDespite being a 15 years old car, it is capable of keeping up with many newer vehicles and the driving experience is unmatched. I'm asking because the 1-owner 08' I bought last year on bat w/104k miles didn't work. I determined it was never used and the mechanism was seized. In the trunk, I located the motor which has its rotor shaft exposed. Turning it back and forth a couple turns broke it free and it has worked perfectly ever since (very useful in CA!).\r\n\r\nIt's great that the front drivers axle was replaced on this one, that one cooks first :) I had to replace it on mine as the inner boot had degraded from heat. I replaced the left inner boot at the same time since it was about to crack as well. The outer boots showed no signs of cracking at 104k miles.\r\n\r\nWhen it comes to refreshing DRC, OEM components are not that expensive with the exception of the two accumulators in the rear of the car (where the spare goes on other models). Those accumulators rarely go bad. It's usually dampers, the flexible hoses and then the hard lines, in that order. The hard lines will be completely fine unless the car was in a snowy environment that uses anything but sand. The PO of mine (was in NJ) had all of the DRC hard lines replaced (because NJ winters), the two rear shocks and flexible lines. I replaced the front shocks and flexible lines with OEM parts purchased from a dealer in Georgia. IIRC the front DRC shocks were ~$300/ea. The short flex hoses are ~$170 ea.
