The Lada was very solid using hot rolled steel in the body panels. Unfortunately this made it prone to rust in our Ontario winters and mine showed signs of rust after three years of use. I must say this particular car seems very well preserved perhaps because it was brought in from Russia. \r\n The car was very affordable in 1978 - I think it was priced at 3295 Canadian dollars - a bargain considering how well outfitted it was. I notice it\u2019s not on the steering wheel of this Lada, but the very top photo shows the Center emblem on the grill. If you can see it well enough, you will notice the large curved part of the symbol is a sail with a good wind blowing upon it. So you and @msmiranda have solved anouther automotive mystery for me.
