I\u2019m not exactly sure how to answer your question, but EFI systems are probably more prone to the need for dealer computerized diagnostics than would be this bike with carbs. EFI has its advantages (like better mpg and very little warm up required), but is computerized and perhaps more complicated to figure out when something goes wrong. In my experience carbs are far simpler and easier to work on. Everything I own that\u2019s EFI, I have to take to a dealer or mechanic. But this Bonneville\u2019s looks, low miles and immaculate condition grabbed my attention. Since new, the owner said he drove the bike out to his mailbox and back a couple of times a week (1/2 mile / rural setting), and into town periodically. Otherwise, it was in his garage, under a cover, with the battery on a charger. He said he serviced it annually irrespective of mileage\u2026 it was showing 1900. Said it had never been wrecked or dropped, and I couldn\u2019t find a scratch on it. He didn't have it for sale, but I asked what he'd take for it. This was not what I was needed, but the bike was so sweet \u2013 so when the owner responded, I couldn't refuse his offer. \r\n\r\nI serviced the bike, replaced the plugs and replaced the fuel line in order to make use an external fuel filter instead of the tiny inline filter Triumph installs (too hard to access to be changed regulary). In the process, I found the fuel petcock didn\u2019t seat properly, so I replaced it also. I replaced the original Metzler rubber, last fall. I know of no issues that need to be addressed with this bike.\r\n\r\nThe engine is all stock. It is common on carbed Bonnevilles, to remove the air induction system and airbox, use a less restrictive air filter and add pipes that allow more airflow. This is a simple and relatively inexpensive mod many people do to improve performance. But this bike ran so well, and I felt it had more than sufficient power for me. It ran like butter like just as it was\u2026 so I decided not to touch it. It accelerates through the gears cleanly and has a very smooth power band. I find the bike to be an extremely nimble and fun ride.\r\nI nicknamed her Mabel early on and I learned quickly that her looks turn heads. She often becomes a conversation piece when I go anywhere there are people around. Something about the black & red paint, the color matched Thruxton tail piece and chrome on a traditional style British bike draws attention. Regardless, Mable is a looker and you\u2019ll have to look very closely to find any flaws in her cosmetic condition. \r\n\r\nI rode the bike to work a good bit in the early months, but Mabel is too good looking to me to ride daily. I bought a VStrom early last year, which I now use as a commuter.
