I pulled the complete Carfax as it gives you a diagram of the accident. Also it gives you severity. This was anything but superficial. When Carfax describes damage as superficial they are very good about calling it cosmetic only. However when they describe the damage as airbags did not deploy, well that is a horse of another color. I have had many Jags from those eras. The lower tensioners are a must do item. Lowers are were the real issue in my mind. I too like you took my 1st 1999 XJR in and the dealer suggested the same work. Didn't make it 6 months before the lowers let go and Kaboom!!! So whoever gets this beautiful XKR get ready and be willing to pay for the lowers. Then you can drive with confidence!! It is common for them to be replaced with new plastic tensioners, which have the same problems over time as the original faulty units. You can tell which ones were installed by taking the covers off, or going through with an endoscope camera. The metal upgrade is great for longevity and peace of mind. @robertwichert correct, it is an interference engine. This is why the lower tensioners really matter here to avoid blowing the engine. \r\n\r\nI have still not gotten a response from the seller detailing if the a/c blows cold, when the last time the transmission fluid was replaced, and definitively where they blended the paint from the accident.
