These are a little hard to find now as they are W8 specific and like any belt should be changed regularly. \r\n\r\n-have the cam position sensors been changed? \r\n\r\n-the cam adjusters absolutely need to have been swapped/updated as they\u2019re what killed most W8\u2019s. They have a small fine metal oil screen that would load up with gunk usually breaking them sending metal bits into the motor. Most people simply removed the screens before they broke or installed the updated cam adjusters. \r\n\r\n-has the alternator been replaced? The engine bay on the W8 is so tight that the alternator is actually water cooled, and a Royal pita to remove and replace. \r\n\r\n-does the fuel gauge work properly? Important to remember that the W8 has two fuel tanks and a fuel control module to manage switching between the two of them located in the well where the spare wheel is. Make sure the drain hole in there is free of debris otherwise rain can accumulate and kill off your fuel control computer, which are no longer available new. \r\n\r\n-how\u2019s the condition of the coolant overflow tank? Those are no longer available new and are W8 specific. \r\n\r\nThe euro headlight switch is a big bonus on this car, as it eliminates the DRLs on startup which is what kills off the ballasts for the headlights with the sudden voltage surge/drop. Also the DRLs for the US market just ran the HID headlights at half capacity all the time, further reducing their lifespan. \r\n\r\nThat\u2019s all I can think of for now. Cool to see such a low mile survivor out there. (Went to see one of the original manuals for sale in the spring for $18,000usd, the drunk pisstank didn\u2019t understand it was was completely baffed, barely worth a grand for the transmission)\r\n\r\nNow I have another of the 149 Canadian W8\u2019s - another \u201803 Tiptronic Wagon with 120,000kms on it.
