Thank you for visiting the auction of my 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V Collector's Series. I will endeavor to answer all questions in a timely manner. Background: I purchased the car from a used car dealer located in Albuquerque NM via eBay auction in June 2021 with 23,736 miles on the ODO at that time. He reportedly purchased it from the original owner's family /estate in July 2020 with 23,698 miles on the ODO. He only drove it 38 miles between July 2020 and my purchase in June 2021; he sorted out a few items and reportedly had the hood, roof and trunk deck repainted. This seemed reasonable to me, as the sun in NM and Southern CO can wreak havoc on 40-year-old paint. Thankfully, the vinyl landau roof and interior were not affected, which lead me to conclude that the car was garaged most of its life. I had a good friend based in Albuquerque inspect and test drive it for me. He reported that it started, ran and drove well; the exterior has a few dings, scratches and touch-ups; and the interior is \"excellent\". Considering the condition and my friend's inspection, I concluded the reported mileage was indeed original and purchased the car. The used car dealer transferred the previous owner's title to me. Upon receipt, I went through the mechanical items outlined in the listing to make it a very presentable, occasional driver, which is what it is. It won an award at the 2021 LCOC Eastern Regional Meet, either First or Second place in its Class in Touring Division. I will check my records and confirm. \r\nWhy I am Selling: Despite being the longest luxury coupe one could buy in 1979 (or since), I do not fit comfortably in the driving position due to being 6'6\"and the car being equipped with a moonroof, which takes away approx. 2\" of headroom. I had the driver's seat moved back 2\" to increase leg room, which is great now, but head room still suffers. I also purchased another collector car and need to make room in my garage. I hate to part with the car, since it runs and drives excellent, and has such a presence even when parked. I spoke with my mechanic today about the differential, and he reviewed the photo in the listing. His recollection is that the fluid appeared OK at the time of inspection in June 2021, and that it did not warrant the labor required to change it or replace the differential seal. This differential does not have a \"pumpkin cover\" in the back (his words); consequently, changing the fluid and/or seal would require \"disconnecting the drive shaft, removing the flange and spindle (?)\" from the FRONT of the differential. He recollected that the condition of the fluid did not warrant the labor required to change it. Hope this addresses any concerns.
