I gotta stop hanging out on BAT - I can't handle these flashbacks to my youth! First was the Yamaha DT 125 I had when I was 14 (auction ending tomorrow), and now this! In 1995 I bought an '82 CB900C from a buddy of mine after seeing it sitting in the back of his garage, neglected and covered with dust and debris. Turns out he laid the bike down turning into the driveway with his then fianc\u00e9 on the back and that was the end of his riding days. Evidently when he laid down the bike his soon-to-be wife laid down the law - it was her or the bike. She won. I won too. After cleaning up 10 years of accumulated dust I found that aside from a dent in the tank, scuffed pegs, a broken mirror, and bent clutch handle the bike was otherwise in excellent condition. I drained the tank and flushed all the fluids, put in a new battery, some fresh plugs and gas, and she fired right up! I spent a couple of hundred bucks on a carb sync and new tires and I was good to go. I rode that bike every day until the snow fell, then proceeded to tear it down to the frame. I had the frame powder coated, bought a new 'undented' tank and had the tank and side covers repainted in Harley Midnight Black with Silver Pearl. I buffed and polished the engine, had the seat resculpted and recovered, and I swapped the stock exhaust with a Kerker 4 into 1. The bike was a dream. Although it wasn't exactly a \"handler\", (it was heavy) it was a fantastic stoplight screamer as well as a wonderful long distance cruiser thanks to the shaft drive and overdrive. I absolutely LOVED that bike, and if it weren't for an unfortunate incident involving a rather large raccoon, a tree, and a ravine I would no doubt still have it. Good times....good times indeed.
