Let's look at this logically, since the car was less than 7 years old when the insurance company deemed it a total loss, that means there must've been substantial costs to repair the car, because the car still had a decent value. Nowhere is this saying that there's frame damage. It's just the cost of repairs was too high. Could it have frame damage? I don't know. What I do know is that the panels don't fit correctly. Based on the comments most people here have made, a layman thinks the panel fit is good enough for them. This is the reason why states have warnings on titles - brand the title with the words Salvage to warn buyers.\r\n\r\nAnd if you're interested, I have seen an insurance company total a car that could be fixed pretty easily. It's typically an older car or a high miler. Too expensive to fix vs paying out the insured. The economics of why a car should or shouldn't be totalled.\r\n\r\nOne final comment. I have a client who got in a terrible accident with her brand new Corolla (back in 2008 or so). Car was $14,500 new and she had under 1000 miles on her. A truck hit her from behind and pushed the rear bumper to her back window. Should've been totalled, but the repair shop wanted the business, so they started with a lower priced estimate. They kept adding addendums, as they \"learned\" about extra work that needed to be done. When the bill was finally sent to the insurance company, it was over $14,500. Add to this the cost of a rental car for almost 2 months and there was no reason to fix it. When she got the car back, she came to my office worried. She asked me to drive it, because she didn't think it was safe. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was bad. When I took it for a short drive, it was confirmed. Assuming it was in miles, it went backward.\r\n12/30/13 64, 337 km at Porsche - still lower than MCL earlier in the month and nearly 700 km in one day?\r\n9/23/14 72,289 km at Leader service\r\n11/8/14 72,286 at British auto service (no mention of miles or km) - less than 2 months ago.\r\n4/2/16 72,290 km at the Motor Vehicle - gov't agency, so should be accurate. 1 km in 18+ months?\r\n6/24/20 131,000 Mike's\r\n5/2/22 72,211 Montgomery. A simple practice is to assume the worst (yes, even for a rare, low production car like this). Why? If you buy wrong, then you're out money. It's better to pass on a deal vs getting stuck.
