Almost all of the modifications to the car were done by the original owner. Any removal of badging on the car was done by the original owner. No service records were provided to me when I purchased the car. Any emissions equipment was already removed which made it impossible to pass testing in Illinois. Eventually I received an exemption for a classic car. I had the original tape pinstripes removed and professionally painted on. The car has original paint and interior and has never been out in the rain or snow. This was not the only RX-7 I owned. The others were driven sometimes daily. This car was set up by the original owner and when I saw it I fell in love with it and only drove it on beautiful days and to nearby cruise nights. The ceramic header and clutch were installed since I\u2019ve owned the car. The car as noted was at the track once and ran high 13\u2019s in the quarter mile. I would guess the car would have close to 50% more horsepower than stock with the modifications and the way it performed. You would need to dyno the car for an accurate measurement. You would have to have gotten a street or bridge port to pick up more. Bolt ons on a rotary will not take it from 100 HP to 150 HP. A stock 12A would do 0 to 60 in about 10 seconds, a 13B engine which had 135 HP would do it in 8 seconds and it did 16 second quarter mile. I used it for many track days at Thunderhill and Sears Point about 8-10 years ago, so I can say with some authority that, by todays standards, the first generation RX7 is not a fast car. The single thing to make more power, which I did not do on my car, is to install a lightened flywheel. I did install an aluminum flywheel on my second gen street car RX7 with street tires and it was able to keep up with a Spec Miata at Infineon. I would never have been that fast with my first gen. If you want a fast car by today's stands, this is not it.
