Least of all, there are always people on Craigslist who have given up the battle and are more than happy to give up their 914 parts. I always ended up with more than I needed for less money than the parts were worth. \r\n\r\nThe seats and door panels are beautiful and the top of the dash looks very good. Seller, it would be nice to know if the radio works and also do the door handles work and lock.\r\n\r\nWhile you are repairing the rust, this would be the perfect time to replace suspension bushings shocks, struts and rear springs, so many combinations out there for the ride and handling that you want.\r\n\r\nNow for the engine, you can have the stock engine rebuilt with the fuel injection or you could go full Raby on it and be on the cutting edge of 914 performance. But you could get that VW shop in Denver build you a long block with bus heads, Web Cam and throw a couple of Webers on it and you are good to go. You will also have the 2 liter engine and the fuel injection system when you are ready to sell it, for the people that are in to that sort of thing.\r\n\r\nThis car also has Dan Gurney wheels. If you bend one, they are still out there on ebay.\r\n\r\nHere is a question for you 914 experts, this car has alloy wheels but a steel spare wheel as I have seen on several 914's on BAT. The steel wheel bolt is 25mm long and the alloy wheel bolt is 40mm long. As to cost to restore someone mentioned, engine and tranny will be min. $10k and possibly as much as $20k, unless you find some good working used parts, it will need the brakes, lines, master cyl, etc, etc all restored/replaced/rebuilt, gas tank will need replaced or restored plus all filters, pumps, etc, then the starter and much more including exhaust system, fuel system, injection or carbs it will take time and money, then the undercarriage is a big unknown, could be very expensive or you may get lucky and re-use lots of the main parts, then the suspension, new tires, etc. The interior is the easy part, but then you might want a good paint job, so costs will add up quickly, many people take years to restore these type cars. GLWA and Good Luck to the person who takes on this challenge, just glad I won't be going down that road with you. I have no doubt that this car has it's original engine and transmission, only real changes I see are the white PORSCHE stripes on the exterior, the after-market air-conditioning that was either installed by a dealer or possibly at the \"port\" since they were never installed at the factory and the interior dash board face and center console lid that someone replaced with the custom wood panels which you can still buy from a couple of the usual 914 suppliers for not too much money. The dash top itself is in great condition and so are the tan seats which appear to have been replaced with vinyl covering along with the back pad and door panels. Those would be nice if they were real leather. Lastly the slick Italian designer \"personal\" wooden steering wheel by either Nardi or Collaudo which can range in price from $200 to $2,000 depending upon wood used, age, and condition as some are very rare and expensive, either way this one is the first I've seen in a Porsche and it is beautiful.
