Honda sponsored my 11 - 12 year old football team when I lived in Japan at a place called Grant Heights on the outskirts of Tokyo. Oddly enough there was an art studio nearby that created Anime and Pok\u00e9mon. Mr. Honda attended our end of season banquet and gifted us jackets and trophies. We won the league btw and I played QB. Then in summer I played baseball and we were sponsored by the Japanese professional team the Tokyo Orions. My coach who I am still friends even today was also my father\u2019s friend and we\u2019d go watch the Orions a lot - easy to get around Tokyo if you know how to use the train system well. A friend also owned and ran the hotdog stand there so I ate great hotdogs for free. They tasted much different than American hotdogs. Sat next to the Orions owner and caught a foul ball. Normally ushers run to where the ball fell and claimed them to be used again. Ushers see me sitting next to owner and quickly back away. A former Negro Leaguer and MLB played for the Orions named George Aultman. I did speak with him a few years ago as did my coach. He lives just outside St Louis and was well back then. I also have a friend in Hawai\u2019i who was an OSI agent back then who knew a few of the league dominating Yomuri Giants who golfed with Sadaharu Oh, Shigeo Nagashima, and Kaneda. The players would often fly to Honolulu to play golf in Hawai\u2019i because vacationing and playing golf there was cheaper than Japan. He sent me 3 baseballs signed by the famous 3 players. His son was later my backup QB has been appointed by Hawai\u2019is governor to a couple of jobs - Ford Fuchigami. Nice guy and family then and now. Won\u2019t go into flying F-16s at Misawa AB in northern Japan but it was kick ass flying low altitude air-to-air over the water between Honshu and Hokkaido while watching the big ships sail between the islands. Fly almost anywhere you want but don\u2019t hit an airliner.
