He was working on a remodel of an elderly gentleman\u2019s house. He needed to access the garage for some work and there the car was sitting. The old man started telling him a story about how he purchased the car from the original owner as a birthday gift for his sister over 20 years ago. His sister died 2 weeks before her birthday and the car never moved. He asked the contractor if he wanted it as partial payment for his work and they shook hands on it. He wasn\u2019t a car guy, but when you see it in person, you know it\u2019s the real deal. He got it out of the garage and had it looked over by a mechanic. He replaced the tires, battery and brakes to make it drivable. He didn\u2019t have a garage to store it and new a winter outside would ruin it, so he put it up for sale. I saw the add and had to see it for myself, I didn\u2019t need a another car at all. But when I looked it over, the mileage is consistent with the wear and patina. I did crack open the air cleaner, cap and rotor, and checked plugs. All are like new and have a sharpie mark of 08/96 on them, which is consistent with the story. I also have the sales receipt from when the second owner purchased the car decades ago. It\u2019s stated as approximately 300-400 miles less than what the odometer reads now. It all adds up. It drives like new, I know because my parents had a brand new 924 in 1980 that would sneak out on Friday nights when they were bowling. The car is very original, and a very honest example. They are a super fun car to drive and get tons of positive comments, even at events with the Porsche club my little 924 gets as much or more attention than a GT3.
