I felt and heard a grinding when I would apply the brakes and they acted more sensitive than usual. I didn\u2019t notice any other difference in the handling of the vehicle. I drove it to the autoshop right away not wanting to take any risks. My theory was that a rock had gotten lodged in the brake system during the drive. There weren\u2019t any signs of bad wheel bearings other than the sound, but considering that I only heard it while breaking and not turning or anytime else I feel pretty confident in saying that the brake pads were the culprit. The mechanic reported that the brake pads were deteriorated and also recommended that the wheel bearing be replaced. The cloth seats wear better, are more comfortable hot, cold, and everything in between, and the manual setup gives you nearly two inches more in legroom. @jsloden: it would not surprise me if the panel behind the front bumper required replacement. Someone waiting at an ATM got impatient and backed into my 80 without looking. It was not much more than a solid tap, but the bumper was pushed right into that panel. The belly photos will show a dirty, texas frame with a little surface rust. The wheel bearings make sense due to long periods of storage. The truck has seen little use due to unique circumstances. That Key area looks ok to me as that rubber grommet is kind of wonky and turns colors over time. The metal that the key switch is made of also turns a darker shade over the years. I have worked on two of these grommets and once removed never seems to go back in correctly. Overall, the truck needs a lot of very tedious detailing which is the kind I enjoy most. I enjoy seeing these prior to meticulous detail jobs that make them perfect. True collector will see past the grime and minor issues. The photos make it look silver, but I am pretty sure it is Cashmere Beige. GLWTS. I know these trucks very well. This truck's condition is very nice. I have seen Land Cruisers that look like this with 50k and with 200k so the tell tale signs of use really can't give us much information. The only significant thing to review are the service histories which document it. This truck has always been cared for but not \"loved\" / worshiped. It may have been regularly used and daily driven for many years to a local office explaining the low miles. Wear and tear can happen with daily use on a short commute and look just like a high mile vehicle that was lovingly cared for by a meticulous owner. Note that many of the low mile \"original\" Land Cruisers we see here have repainted bumpers, steam-cleaned frames, reupholstered seat bottoms, and expensive paint corrections. This truck looks to have been vacuumed, hosed off, and photographed at dusk. It is just about as original as they come. A week with a talented detail person and this truck would draw national attention, but the seller chose to present it \"as is.\" As I said, collectors and pros can look past most of the issues that most novice buyers get nervous about. I predict this being a good buy for someone. Again, wish I needed another. FZJ80's with leather interior also had a leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter. The shifter is correct on this vehicle. The miles also seem correct. My guess is one of the previous owners often had dirty or oily hands as the steering wheel, window switches, headlight knob, radio and climate control buttons and even the center console armrest/cover all need a good cleaning. Be careful not to use strong degreaser though as the white lettering may fade. Try using a warm soapy water first.
