The effect appears pretty extreme on this car - - more than I have typically seen - so it's possible more factors are in play. \r\n\r\n I would think a good pain guy could respray the exterior bonnet and doors to be closer to the rest of the car - - which otherwise looks really nice! The manufacture date would indicate its a 1966 and in line with that model year, and not 1967. Likely sat on the dealer lot for a time, and got a 1967 title. No big deal. \r\n\r\nI'm guessing the interior was redone at some point? The VIN indicates that this should have the rubber shift boot, and not the Ambla gaiter that was introduced in October of 1966. That said, most prefer the Ambla over the rubber when interiors are restored. \r\n\r\nAlso, the VIN indicates the car should have been equipped with sun visors. Some people eliminate these in their restos. Many so-called restorations of cosmetically beautiful cars with no documentation have proven to be lipstick-on-a-pig, i.e., the monocoque has been filled with bondo as a cost-cutting, fatal shortcut.\n\nThe seller has included invoices showing the rusted monocoque body was properly restored with panel replacement in lieu of bondo patches. After sorting the body, the next step is sorting the drive train. That's also been done. And the interior looks great.\n\nThe last step is the paint. Curiously. there appears to have been a shortcut or a problem here. Out of funds? Brother-in-law not as good of a painter as he claimed? In any case, paint is the icing on the cake, although it's the first thing anybody sees, and that's when the sparkles and far-away looks appear in the eyes of the beholder.\n\nI'm certain savvy bidders have already had this car inspected. Such an easy test to see if the monocoque was taken down to bare metal, or had bondo thrown at it, which then throws credulity to the wind.
