The fog lights are a great option. Can\u2019t beat black..... when it\u2019s clean. Tough to maintain black but, well, just look at this car. Beautiful! \r\nProblem areas to be aware of on the C5\r\nColumn lock WILL fail eventually and good chance of stranding you. Aftermarket has remedy.\r\nThese wheels are known to fracture. Check for hairline cracks.\r\nThe glass targa top UV coating will degrade. Usual starts on the passenger side at the drip trim. Tops can be sanded and refinished but it\u2019s a bitch job.\r\nHVAC display eventually fades to nothing. Problem is solder joints degrading on HVAC circuit board. Easy fix, just resolder.\r\nSeats don\u2019t wear well without proper care. Use lots of leather conditioners to keep leather supple. \r\nThrow out bearings are notoriously loud, but not a reliability issue. \r\nHeadlight door gears are plastic gears. They WILL wear out. Aftermarket has solution.\r\nThe Bose door speakers have their own individual amps. When one goes it can be pricey. \r\nSeat rack nylon bushes wear and result in the seat having unwanted fore/aft movement.\r\nBose 12 disc CD trunk mount player is prone to jamming. ( this car doesn\u2019t have it)\r\nThe Black paint is nonmetallic and super unforgiving showing blemishes. But the clear coat takes well to clay bars and power buffing.\r\nTurn signal operation can go sideways. The signal unit is directly above the center HVAC vents and humidity kills them. Very expensive to fix but internet has good solution to bypass, and it works! \r\nI had my Targa for 12 years and it was never in a shop. They are rock solid reliable once the column lock issue is fixed. And bonus..... you can lower both front and rear suspension yourself with just a few tools. Mine cornered like crazy to begin with. Once lowered handling was absolutely amazing. And do the car and yourself a favor and ditch the run flat tires. They are terrible for handling and cabin noise. Like the Z06, buy an inflator kit with the money you save on non run flats. \r\nI\u2019m not a Corvette guy, though i May sound like it. These C5s, whatever model (six speed only) are just terrific cars. Their reputation for best bang for the buck sports car is true. I switched from run flats to Michelin A/S and soundproofed the rear cargo area...reduced sound level amazingly.
