I'm so enthusiastic about the car that I think I might explode. It is remarkable how the manual transmission transforms the mighty V10...and I can't believe that as a lifelong car guy, I was so late to the R8/6 Speed party. I owned a 2nd generation R8 with a V10. Obviously, it was a paddle car, as the gated 6 option died with the first gen. It was a nice car, but didn't really offer anything special when compared with a paddle shift Ferrari or PDK Porsche. I bought it new, but traded it off after a few months when I got an allocation for a Pista. \n\nAnyway, I've now put over a 1000 miles on the BaT R8, and I can already tell that it's one of those really special cars that we won't ever see again. It's probably going to become a permanent fixture of my ever rotating collection, right there with the 993 Turbo...that's how good it is. Whoever wins this car won't be disappointed. Bottom line is that I can't think of car that scratches the same itch as the gated R8. Yes, the early Gallardos had gated manuals (I had two of them) but the silky R8 is less ostentatious and far easier to live with. It sits in the garage next to a .1RS and I'll be honest, I'm always grabbing the keys for the R8. It just does so many things so well. I recently had Pirelli winter tires swapped onto the wheels and took off on a 5k mile road trip from PNW to the midwest, back through the mountains of CO, and then migrated west back home. Just......awesome. It's not an S class so you feel the aftermath of a 900 mile day in the seat, but you get up the next day, anxious like a kid on xmas morning, to bring that engine to life and do it all over again. The car just delivers all around bliss, capable of 18+mpg, and rocketing to speeds not appropriate to disclose here. I feel so fortunate to own and experience one. While I said I'd never get attached to another car because I feel like the RS is my \"forever\" car to get buried in......the R8 seems to be making a strong case to prove it's just as special too. \n\nGorgeous car presented here. Since the pipeline of production for new cars has dried up, the used car market is out of sight. At least it is here in the north east. My V106MT bought two years ago has appreciated 100%. In addition , there is a lot of capital out there. This is not a lecture but rather a guess that the V106MT will increasingly be desirable given its low yearly production and ultimate elimination. My guess is the significantly higher milage ones will be more reasonably priced , but in my opinion, they are even better than the dormant garage fixtures. But seriously, what do I know???
