My wife worked at the US Embassy which was located on the Garden Ring Road, a heavily travelled main thoroughfare with some places having 16 lanes of traffic (occasionally more when some drivers used the sidewalk). There were lots of traffic jams. When we were caught in one we would use the term \u201cLada-ized\u201d because many of the broken down cars causing the backup were Ladas with their hoods up and some guy trying to fix it while being cursed by fellow Russians. The best breakdown I saw was a Lada that lost its entire rear axle. The tail of the car was on the ground about a foot in front of the axle. The colour matches the 1.3 L model I owned, as does the more squared of body lines. My much better earlier car ( with the 1500 cc engine like this one had enough power to stay with traffic easily. The 1300 cc was a much slower process. This are basic transportation, with very good dependability but at the cost of rattling dual timing chains for the cams, and just plain everything. I don't think I would be tempted to buy this, as it's now been many years scince these were sold in Canada, so parts will be a problem. All for\r\na mediocre car.
