He bought this one and a '48 Lincoln sedan and used the Continental as the tow car. It originally had an Oldsmobile Rocket 8-cylinder engine and was pretty powerful. The sedan had the hv-12 Lincoln engine which after rebuilding was put into the '47. The '47 has gone to local car shows and won Lincoln Continental meets in Dearborn, Michigan over its lifetime.\r\n\r\nCouple of answers to questions...yes, all the steering wheels for these cars1946-48 were translucent bugundy colored. yes, the top is new and hydraulic system for raising and lowering works but the new top has not been down since it was installed. The maintenance is pretty straightforward and if you are a little bit handy, you can do a lot yourself. Those engines are so simple that it is highly likely that any mechanic at a shop with more than 20years experience can do the job. There is a lot of space to work on the engine, the engine bay is huge!\r\nThe Lincoln Zephyr club (www.LZOC.org) has a lot of experience and a good chat if you need any help. Parts have not been difficult to find based on my experience and the club has lots of addresses for parts/engines/transmissions/carbs etc. With Corona have not been to any meet yet but they are plenty.\r\n\r\nAs for the overdrive, it is a mechanical 'pull' once in 3rd gear, very easy to use. Even if you 'forget' to turn it off, the V12 is so torque focused that you can easily continue to drive. This car is designed to drive around town in 2nd gear without any need to shift.\r\n\r\nAs for driving it @Katenick1: I concur with the requests for video's, at least 2 min video with cold start, driving/shifting and stop/go the car. I also suggest to drive the highway, I cruise at 70mph easily. No better way to demonstrate that the works and that all gauges work.\r\n\r\nLast but not least, from all the cars I have driven, this one creates smiles on EVERYBODY's face, 3 year olds and 90year olds. People spend more time at my car at the car&coffee than at the expensive supercars. From showing the oil dipstick floater, hydraulic windows (there are oil pipes going in/out the door!), the art deco decor, the way the push door opens, the way your key works to the magic radio control button between the brake and clutch pedal. And last but not least, this is the last V12 that was manufactured in an American production car as far as I am aware. And many people have old ownership stories and/or anecdotal stories to tell about this car. \r\n\r\nSo whoever ends up with this car will be in for a real treat at any occasion you take the car out. And even if you don't, I sometimes just take my coffee in the garage and sit in the car for fun. The repair involved removing the door panel and kick panel to access the hose, then removing the hose and taking it to a hydraulic shop where they built me a new one in 10 minutes, and then installing the new hose and putting the panels back in place. Total cost - $12.00. Total time - 1 day.
