I get comments from strangers all the time when I'm getting out of it in a parking lot....most often along the lines of \"Looks like a James Bond car\". Great color combination on this one. BMW only built 828 e86 coupes with a 6 speed transmission for the US market, making them even more rare than the e28 M5 (1,340), so like the e28, it's a pretty safe bet the e86 will continue increasing in value. @cjcha2 don't be afraid to give that engine compartment a good soaking soap bath at the car wash followed by a high pressure rinse. But what happened is that a Jeep Grand Cherokee bumped into the side of the Z4. There was a big scrape on the door, and the driver-side fender had a dent right in the crease under the small window. (The Jeep just had a scrape on its passenger-side front bumper, go figure). The body shop replaced the door and fender with new ones. I think the \"rougher steering feel\" may have been related to road conditions. I thought I had felt almost a notchiness when I was turning. However, I specifically paid attention to it the last 2 times I drove the car and couldn't detect anything. On Sunday, an interested BaT member came to test drive the car, and I directly asked him if he felt anything through the steering. He did not.\r\n\r\nThe car since new has always allowed a degree of road feel through the steering and through the seat. It's set up as an agile sports car and will follow the road--especially older, poorly surfaced roads. The current tires (non-run flat Michelin Pilot Sports that were put on last year) are transformative compared to the original run flats it came with. I say all this because road surfaces matter for this car, and I think that's all it may have been.\r\n\r\nI debated whether or not I should even mention anything with the steering because I don't want to create concern about a non-existent problem. And quite rare -- as someone mentioned already, only 828 were ever made for the North American market.\r\n\r\nRough steering: yes some earlier versions of the Z4 had 'sticky' steering columns under some conditions. I'm not aware of any facelift cars having the issue.\r\n\r\nDon't let this mileage deter bidding. The N52 is famously reliable and long-lived. \r\n\r\nI had a blast with my 3.0si coupe.
