A great color and car. The Variocam makes a big difference in power, coming on with an almost turbo-like rush around 4K. This one looks great. LSD is fairly rare. The Boxster wheels are a nice upgrade from the too small 16s, but I agree that a set of Cup 1s are the right OEM look for the 968. One thing - most Cups are 993 take offs and have a different size that the 968 Cups, which had 7.5\u201d fronts to account for the front engine weight of the 968. \r\n\r\nNow to that gray - it is fabulous. The two tone looks great in the low, long dash interior.\r\n\r\nMy question for the seller is if they can document that the variocam assembly, or even just the pad, has been replaced. Really the only weak point of that engine. The timing chain runs over the variocam assembly channeled by a plastic/fiber pad. Eventually these crack and break, with ugly results. When I replaced mine around 100k it came out in two pieces. I bought this 968 during COVID to \u201cscratch an itch\u201d (had heard they were great driving cars - which it is), but not using it enough to warrant keeping it long term. \r\n\r\n@RPM911 - As soon as I bought the car, I decided to have the water pump, timing belt, etc. service done, as there was no evidence of it from the history I had when I bought it from Dick Barbour Performance in Atlanta. I ordered the parts from 944online/Ians Euro Parts, including chain pads - the invoice is in the listing. My local shop performed the belt and water pump service and told me that the pads did not need replacing (still have them available to go to the next owner). Hope that answers your question, or anyone else that is interested/informed.\r\n\r\nLots of discussion on wheels/tires. If I had been the original owner, I would probably have stuck with the 16\u201d Cup 1 wheels, or tried to find 17\u201d Cup 1 ones, when they were probably more readily available a few years ago. I bought it from Dick Barbour (friend of mine) who'd gotten it from the original owner, whom I called and spoke with at some length. I'm the 'missing' interim owner. I assure you I obtained a title so don't understand the CarFax gap, though they operate in their own orbit sometimes.\r\n\r\n @Scotscollector, I didn't recall us speaking before (?) but can attest that the car was supremely nice, well-maintained, and with no prior damage. It needed a rather significant paint correction (hazy scratches only, nothing too serious) which I delighted in doing personally. I fixed the always iffy console hinge with a discreet continuous version that will not be letting go. A few other niggles as well, but the car really needed little. \r\n\r\nI owned two other 911s and a 914-6 at the time, so I got a decent comparison of the transaxle / front engine train of thought while owning the car about a year. \r\n\r\nIt handled ridiculously well, remaining planted and secure, without protest other than some initial turn-in. But after that it remained so planted; I don't think you could break the rear end loose in anything other than oiled marbles. This car just sticks without drama.\r\n\r\nI was mainly smitten by the color. I wasn't even looking for a 968 when I called Dick that Saturday morning, but after seeing the color and condition, that was that. I also really liked the wheels - and dare I say it? - preferred them to the originals. Blasphemy I know, but they ARE Porsche and are wider, so there.\r\n\r\nIt's also faster than you think: At 236hp, it had 30 more hp than my M491 Carrera at the time and it used them well. The 6 speed (first used in this car) was positive as an rifle mechanism. Very well weighted. A fun car to play in for sure. \r\n\r\nI later traded back to Dick for a 993C4S, my 'Covid car', which I've since traded for a 997tt. So the quick trade had nothing to do with the 968's abilities, more the psychosis of the owner. \r\n\r\nIn all, this is a glorious little car. Modern enough to enjoy daily, cool and classic enough that you will virtually guarantee never passing yourself on the street this side of Rennfest.
