It's steering/handling, acceleration and overall chassis performance is 2nd to none, esp in this price range (which is why they should be selling for much, much more.) \n\nAnyone who participated in the last auction will know I'm not passing it on to the next owner because I'm unhappy with it, quite the contrary. I quickly fell in love with the model so now I'm on the hunt to find one of the Sepang Bronze cars. \n\nAs for the 9 owners, it's actually just 5. When I bid on the car, I learned from a previous owner that 2 PO's had it registered in their name and then in the name of their own dealership. And one PO may have had it registered in his own and then his wife's names, respectively. Believe me, as an owner of 3 Porsche's and 3 other BMW's, I consider myself to be fairly discerning caretaker and finding a good, unmodified, relatively low mileage Z4 M is what I set out to do and ultimately what I got. Besides, I'd rather have 5 meticulous owners (or 10 or 20....like we see in the Ferrari world!) than 1 or 2 bad owners. I also love the way it feels like you're sitting on the rear axle. With the seat wrapped around you, it often feels like you can steer the car with your hips. I also have a case of oil and a couple filters, should the next owner want to do his own maintenance. The S54 is a fairly easy motor to maintain, esp in this chassis. FWIW, I had experienced the S54 in the \"clownshoe\" before I ever drove a Z4 M. I think the S54 truly shines in this chassis. I was instantly smitten when I drove around at fairly pedestrian speeds, where I had a small sense of the handling/power but fell in love when I hit 4k rpms or so. The Z4 M goes from a good, agile, peppy little car to an absolute madman when it gets wound up. Like all good naturally aspirated \"M\" motors, if you find your shift points and keep it above 4,000-4,500 revs and it just sings! All this without putting it in \"Sport\" mode and turning off traction control. Adding those elements to the mix take it to another level yet again!\r\n\r\nAlso, the mileage might go up just a little because, if and when weather allow, I am still driving it. I'm fortunate enough, like many of you, to have a few options when it's time to go out and just drive. Over the last year or so, I've found myself grabbing the keys to the Z4 M more than any other car (the Porsche's and other BMW's have been jealous of the new kid in the garage!) Those of you who own one or have driven one will understand why it's often the go-to car for me. The Z4 M has been undervalued for a long time but I have a feeling a \"bubble\" might happen in the next 1-2 years. So get one now because when the rest of the enthusiast auto world has their Eureka moment and discovers what they've been missing, they won't be so undervalued anymore! :)\r\n\r\n@danbmw- somewhere i have a couple websites stored that offer the \"reflector delete\" for both the front and rear bumpers. As mentioned in a previous comment, I think back in '06, '07 and '08 there may have been people who bought an M Coupe thinking they were getting a \"sporty\" little coupe and quickly realized they got something far more potent (i.e. this isn't an SLK!) \r\n\r\nAs for maintenance, it's mentioned above that I did the factory recommended valve adjustment a few months ago in preparation for the last auction. I wanted to make it as \"hassle-free\" for the next caretaker. As for the VANOS, most people here will agree the VANOS/rod bearings are the most debated topics in the BMW world. I've known plenty of owners who had them done early (sub 50k miles) while others have easily cruised past 100k miles with no issues. If I were keeping the car, I'd go ahead and get it done, although I've not seen or heard any of the tell-tale noises, rattling, etc warning of forthcoming issues. But that in itself can be a debatable topic (Dr. Vanos vs Beisan, etc.) So I wanted to let the next owner decide when and what to use. There is no history and no sign of any damage anywhere on the car, so the paint is original. However, l think a good, experienced detailer could really make it pop.
