The dashboard on these LTDs came straight from the '80-'82 T-Bird, and the T-Bird's digital dash and center console were indeed options on the LTD through '84. For over a year now, it's been undergoing a restomod overhaul. It's approaching completion, and it has an all new engine (460hp coyote gen 3), transmission, suspension, wheels, repaint in black, reupholstery, etc., after what was effectively a total disassembly of the car. I'm also adding in some goofy niceties like a hydraulic handbrake, a skid plate, and a remote license plate flipper (for display purposes only). It'll be glossy and black. Its name is the Hell TD.\r\n\r\nThese cars are so much fun. I drove one in high school, a hand-me-down 3.6 sedan that was already 15 years old when I got it. It ran great. It was comfortable. It would oversteer just right on loose terrain. Mine was light blue with bluish gray interior and had a bullet hole looking thing on the side. It was reliable and cozy and quick enough. It was great in every situation except the snow and ice. On the snow it just never got traction, so I had to keep some chain-mail looking mats in the trunk to jam under the tires every 10 feet. And on the coldest mornings of the year (under 0 fahrenheit / -20 or so celcius) the gas pedal would physically freeze in when I pushed the accelerator, and then stay there! The pedal would then just flop around loosely while the car revved up full throttle and I'd have to quickly turn the car off and call a buddy for a ride. By the time I got home from school, somehow it would be unfrozen. But...great otherwise.\r\n\r\nJust to illustrate how I feel about this car: I have arriving soon, currently on a boat, a new Porsche manual 992 GT3. And yet...I'm twice as excited for my LTD.\r\n\r\nI almost bid on today's. The red-on-red is fun, and and the wagon is a classic. Congrats @BearsGarage and a big wave to @LTDScott for his inspiring builds. \r\n\r\nSo few of these cars have survived. We're lucky the demand for these is...relatively quite low.
