I built the engine for this car and can answer some questions. The seller has attached the invoices for the engine build as well as a dyno sheet which we did about 3 weeks ago. I've been around these RX7's for a long time and you just don't see them in this condition. Every time I see or drive the car I'm amazed at how nice the car is. The engine was rebuilt with all new parts straight from Mazda as the invoice shows. A Holley sniper will not fit on this intake manifold. This is a 48IDA weber and a racing beat intake manifold. Racing beat does sell an intake manifold for a 4 barrel carb but honestly I don't know why you'd change from the weber. It works perfectly. \r\nYes I did what I'd call a mild street port on the engine. The customer didn't want to have to constantly rev it to 8500 rpm's to get good power out of it. As you can see on the dyno sheet, it makes just above 150whp on my chassis dyno. A stock 12a from the factory makes about 95whp on my chassis dyno. The shop attributed it to a sticky expansion valve and indicated to me that it seemed to have unstuck itself, probably as a result of the fresh oil in the system.\r\n\r\nThe current suspension is not adjustable, but if you wanted to source different springs or coilovers that would be very doable. I loved the proportions, the light weight, the handling, and that offbeat engine under the hood and the unique sounds it produced, everything. Perhaps most of all I loved that there was room for just the two of us and we made a lot of great memories in those cars.\r\n\r\nDad passed unexpectedly in 2016 and I spent a lot of time soul-searching and reminiscing and concluded that a sports car in my life might be a good way to help destress and reconnect to those good times while maybe building some new memories with my son. I began the search later that year with an FB or FC RX-7 in mind.\r\n\r\nI immediately subscribed to a number of forums, classifieds sites, and all the RX-7 categories on BaT and began searching for a solid example. After more than a year of searching and test driving, I came to a couple conclusions; namely that a clean series 5 coupe was nearly impossible to find and that while a stock FB was a lot of fun, it didn\u2019t really have the performance that I wanted. So, the search shifted from looking for a pristine example to something with good bones that I could build on.\r\n\r\nMore months of searching turned up this beautiful Havana Brown machine in Topeka, KS, almost in my backyard. The previous owner was passionate about the car and had already modified it to a high standard with many of the changes I\u2019d been planning to make myself. That combined with a very healthy street-ported 12A engine from Jesse Prather Motorsports that really transformed the driving experience, I decided that this was the car for me. I purchased it in July of 2018 and decided to take a while to get to know the car before I made any further changes.\r\n\r\nAfter speaking with @jprather34 and going over the ins and outs of the engine and his service recommendations, the remainder of that first year was really about maintenance to \u201czero time\u201d the car. New NGK spark plugs, fresh Valvoline VR1 20W-50 oil with a Mazda filter, Redline MT90 transmission and 75W90 rear end lube, and a flush of all the brake and clutch lines with Valvoline synthetic fluid were performed before the car was put away for winter.\r\n\r\nThe next spring brought more miles and the realization that the car was in a great place; the engine, suspension, brakes, and other systems were in a really nice balance and my plans changed from most of the modifications I\u2019d been considering to just enjoying the car for what it was.\r\n\r\nSince then, the miles passed, the old memories were savored, new memories were made, and I\u2019m ready for a new chapter. So if you love your 1st gen\nPull the trans and have a rebuild , bearings and all , kits available. Do not put in a trans\nFrom salvage . Take a trans from salvage and rebuild that one and swap into your\n1st gen, (so as not to loose seat time) then rebuild your original and put it away like money in the bank.
