When I bought it, from a Toyota dealer, I had them replace the fabric interior with leather for $3K to help keep things more cleanable with a couple young kids. Only took a day to do it locally. It was well worth it and made it feel much nicer inside. I still miss that car actually. Nice and simple and very roomy inside. Very easy to drive and park, can haul a lot of stuff in the back with the seats down. Pretty good gas mileage, decent power. Was a great little car. Plus, we liked the new marketing techniques, drove one at a \u201cpop-up test\u201d no-haggle pricing, Scion dealer salespeople not on commission and the youthful targeted marking that really hit home to an older generation and the enormous eye roll the kids gave us when we pulled in the driveway with it. The dealer didn\u2019t have an auto-trans XB in stock and found one across country, brought it in for us not Black Cherry Pearl with no added-on dealer options, on market demand pricing. Like everyone who bought a new Scion when first out didn\u2019t pay anything more or less than what was on the sticker (try to find that in todays word). I missed this. I daily an '05 xB currently at 228k miles. I'm the 3rd owner and got it at 140k. These are very reliable vehicles! Not necessarily highway cruisers but they'll get the job done. \n1) WRT interior lighting additions - If there is, erm...a design flaw...it's interior lighting. The only OEM light is the standard dome light but it's kinda in the center of the roof - too far back from the front seats but too far forward of the cargo space to be 100% effective. Lighting \"mods\" are common in the toaster community. The guy before me added a single LED bulb in the headliner above the shifter that does a good job.\n2) xB has more headroom than any car I've ever been in. I'm a shade over 6'1\", the seat is nowhere near the aft most position and, if so inclined, I'm sure I could sport a 10 gal hat. Shoot, even a 15 gallon or maybe even one of those beekeeper joints if I wanted.\n3) These are super easy to work on. Not many \"performance\" mods but very reliable. EZ around town. Surprisingly easy to do through the driver's side wheel well by just loosening the trans mount bolts and lowering the drivetrain on a floor jack a few inches. Lowered the highway RPM from 4,000 to 3,500 and made it a little more bearable to drive at high speeds. I love the car, and it's best in the city, not the highway.
