The early tops had a more difficult solution, and it is much more common to see the early tops stowed like the auction car with the rear hoop remaining on the rear deck. A 101 series spider is a little bit better with 2 inches longer wheelbase. But neither have the room of a series 2 or a series 3 105 Spider. From the air intake slits on the side of the housing in pic#107 you can see that either the filter itself has deteriorated to the point where it is crumbling and the pieces are no doub falling into the intake manifold, or the filter is full of dust which is blocking a lot of airflow. Remove the filter canister first, try to suck any junk out of the intakes, remove the idle and main jets and clean them and dry them, then put them back in, try to adjust the carb, and maybe that will be enough. It's easier dealing with a single carb than it is a pair, and there are plenty of places online that offer tutorials on cleaning, rebuilding and adjusting old solex carb's.
