As a longtime listener first time caller on BAT it's still hard to believe my first auction on here is for my dear aunt and uncle's Ford. It's bittersweet, too, as my aunt passed late last year at the remarkable age of 90, and thus I'm now tasked with selling it on behalf of their trust. \r\n\r\nMy uncle purchased this Ranger a few years after he retired from decades' work as a firefighter and fire marshal in San Mateo, CA. He previously owned an F-100 - think it was a '66, also purchased new - that he retired and replaced with this Ranger. I have a picture he took of that truck parked next to this one that I can share.\r\n\r\nThis Ranger served as my aunt and uncle's daily driver until last year, when my aunt could no longer drive. While it's no garage queen (parked outside since new) I hope it's clear that my uncle and aunt were especially meticulous with service and record keeping. \r\n\r\nI'm excited to share info and stories about this truck to the best I can recall, since I've lived within a mile or so of it for much of the last 20 years. \r\n\r\nI'm more of a VW and Audi person, but I hope I can answer any questions you may have. I've been driving it a bit since January, getting it serviced and figuring out what needed sorting. I even used it one afternoon doing what it was meant to do: I hauled 20-odd concrete wall blocks to my house. My aunt and uncle used it mainly for getting around town, and I don't believe they hauled much of anything in it, since the bedliner looks barely used. \r\n\r\nI do think this 3.0 Vulcan V6 can get out of its way pretty well. It's loose at the edges mainly, and I suspect if it's pulled it would be easy to use some spray adhesive to make it look perfect.\r\n\r\nThe sun visors are worn mainly due to age and wear against the sun shade that they used on the dash.\r\n\r\nIt's hard to convey how clean the truck is otherwise. As I say, they were pretty meticulous about keeping it nice. It's why I spent some time sourcing a non-op NOS radio just for its power/volume control to replace the power button on the radio. I guess they've had that replaced a couple times before, so I figured I had to replace it again to make that right! The seller has been very transparent by providing all of the records and receipts, warts and all. Yes, the truck did suffer an accident that required a significant repair, but it was professionally repaired by insurance and the truck looks and drives great (thanks for the video). \r\n\r\nI had a 99 Ranger with this same drivetrain. Up until that point I had only had manual transmission cars and much preferred them, but I remember always being impressed with the smoothness of the transmission and the overall good ride/handling for a truck. \r\n\r\nAnd I too am an \u201cAudi sufferer\u201d as we own two newer ones at present. As nice as they are, I would love to have something like this truck for hauling tools and ladders, hunting, and generally driving around town.
